Rose was kinda just a idiot who took a somewhat unnecessary risk and it backfired, like... like why does he battle you? He says that the champion can handle it yet doesnt, rose was a disappointment, but I still love sword and shield tho even if somethings are a little off

@@neonrain9488 I liked a lot of things about SWSH as well, especially the characters. I think Rose is very impatient and a bit impulsive. There are a lot of clues that Oleana actually calls the shots and Rose just shows up and smiles and shakes hands. She manages his calendar, chivies him along to his next appointment when he'd clearly rather stay and chat and 'edits' everything he says and does to try to make it more coherent (see his league card and various in-game events). He seems prone to sudden random ideas and doesn't like to wait to implement them. He's also obsessed with Galar's energy supply (it's literally all he talks about), and he just suddenly comes to this realisation that one day it's going to run out. However instead of doing the sensible thing and discussing it with a committee and getting politicians and corporations etc behind it, he impulsively tries to make his own solution in his own way without consulting anyone or letting anyone moderate his ideas. So basically he's trying to do a 'good' thing, just in a rash and stupid way without thinking it through. I really like him as a character for that reason. You can see how much he doubts himself when you finally battle him - the way he looks down and squeezes his pokeball, etc. I think he's just already gone too far and has to follow through by playing the villain and fighting you. Ultimately he hands himself in to the police. Can you imagine Ghetsis doing that?! Nope, instead he'd rather push a kid on the ground, try to freeze you to death, threaten to kill you/a child and start shouting and ranting about how he's perfect and can't possibly be defeated.

Yeah, he's not trying to make something he believes it's right, he just wants power. A corrupt person with no real objective other than personal gain. Like most assholes with power in real life

@@FlightzerCyrus had genuinely good intentions. He though by creating a reality without emotion he could stop cruelty and suffering while also making advancements never seen before. He wanted to help people. He saw himself as a hero. Not a god.

Really late comment, but the music also shows a great contrast to the themes in the game. Where N has many major and minor chords in his song showing his skewed views and good heart...Ghetsis has nothing. You see the blank and evil he thing is. The "power" of the percussion and the "darkness" of the Tri-Tone makes it clear, that there is no "grey" when it comes to men like Ghetsis.

Yes he is.

He's up there with some Final Fantasy main antagonist characters like Kuja. He's no Kefka though. Easily one of the most evil videogame villains ever written. Dude is completely insane and he achieves his goal of destroying the world and ascending to godhood. Sephiroth was a crybaby playing at world destruction. Ultamecia collapsed time for...reasons? No other antagonists in gaming history ever had such negative impacts on the worlds they existed in compared to Kefka and Ultamecia.

@Wilt&Blush I know, and that's what makes him such an effective villain. I love it.

I love all out villains like him. Just completely irredeemable and evil just to be evil.

@@plague8163 I'm glad someone agrees. So many people call his irredeemably evil actions a "weak" point of Black and White but I found it worked. We already had N who was a completely sympathetic villain, having Ghetsis be evil in a way that was smart and manipulative was great. Combine this with his theme and difficult battle and it makes him the best Pokemon villain in my opinion Or, at the very least, the most satisfying villain to take down. We need more irredeemable villains in games these days.

Another thing to add with Zekrom's Lightning and Reshiram's Fire, even though most people probably know this. Reshiram's Fire is Orange, the opposite of blue, and Zekrom's lightning is Blue, the opposite of orange. This is why I love Gen 5.
