Excellent video, very informative. As a Breton, I'm happy to see my country shown on the map, in its true borders, and idependant as it was during this era. When this kind of historic topic is shown in french productions, breton borders always mysteriously disappear... Thanks for this. keep it up.

It’s extremely difficult to find English language resources that are sympathetic to the Valois cause, or at least, not weighted towards the English perspective of the War. That’s why we always hear about Crécy, Agincourt, and Poitiers, but decisive and impressive victories by the French at Patay, Formigny and Castillon are virtually unknown in the Anglophone world.

All existing medieval longbows including two taken from the Mary Rose in 1836 and one from the battle of Flodden drew less than 100lb. Eye witness account from Jean le fevre tells us that archers were without armour with some barefoot and bareheaded, some wearing hats of woven willow, boiled leather or steel. None wore a bascinet or used a quiver. All had cut their hose because of dysentary. The fact that Henry (5) had captured the French battle plan seems to be overlooked. This is the reason he wedged his army into such a narrow space with his flanks protected by forest. He had a a bit of a panic attack when it looked lke the French army would not attack so he goaded them into action, had the english army attacked they would have been soundly beaten as the longbow is very good defensive weapon but not so good in attack.. This become apparent after a string of defeats starting in 1428

You are mistaken, and nevertheless even if this statement was correct Henry V was King of England, all of his side can be called English troops regardless of were they originated, Henry V was King of England, not King of the United Kingdom. Henry V had 6,000 -8,100 men at Agincourt, about 5⁄6 were archers meaning 5,000 - 6,750 archers; it's a fact that 500 archers and 23 men-at-arms travelled from Wales to France to fight alongside Henry V. The above shows us that at most 10% of Henry V's archers at Agincourt were from Wales; Longbow practice was compulsory for every male in England aged between 15 and 60, the first law to this effect was passed in 1252, 163 years before Agincourt therefore the English had been training compulsorily with the Longbow for 6 or 7 generations by the time of Agincourt.
