A 1956 American WW2 Navy War film directed by Lewis Seiler and starring John Lund, William Bendix and Keefe Brasselle. The crew of a U.S. Navy ship in World War II goes into battle against the Japanese fleet. The movie took inspiration from the 1944 documentary film "The Fighting Lady." That documentary was an in-depth look at the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Yorktown including combat operations during World War II. With strong and compelling, real combat footage.
"The Fighting Lady" (1944) - WW2 U.S.S. Yorktown award-winning Documentary - REEL History:
• "The Fighting Lady" (1...
STORYLINE: A rebuilt WWII carrier sails back to the Pacific theater to rejoin the war in early 1945, a carrier the Japanese think they sank. So if she shows up again, they will go after her with a vengeance. And they do, nearly destroying her again, ending that mission for her, but she is able to limp back to the states. The captain is tough, he knows the added risk for his ship, but shows he also has a heart by not relieving a pilot of flight duty, one who committed a serious mistake by not taking a wave-off as instructed. Lot of action shots, many appearing to be actual war footage. The usual character sub-stories. Partly plays like a documentary about the navy, and the carrier in particular.
"Battle Stations" was originally released on February 1, 1956.

Smartly done. Gives a sense of how abruptly things can change when in harm's way.

Why can’t they make movies like this anymore? I mean there was a lot of parts that were kind of hokey, but it still has a story and made you feel something.

Yet today, the Oligarchic Cultists of the US and their political stooges in both ‘parties’ look to destroy freedom, democratic process, peace, God’s civilization and intelligent balance everywhere (including in the US).

Not a bad old movie…idk if I missed it or not, but I don’t recall them saying the name of their carrier…by the damage I’m guessing Franklin or Bunker Hill?

I grew up watching war movies in the 1970s and my DVD library numbers in the hundreds. How is it I never heard of this great movie? It's melodramatic as hell but still entirely well acted, scripted and paced. And the best part? I can't fucking STAND William Bendix but in this movie he was actually TOLERABLE! They don't make movies like this anymore, or for that matter, American men...

seen this on another channel, a good one; even though I recollect most all this fine 68 y/o movie.. Except the commercials since they happen but don't follow any pattern, other than the bottom dollar!! Like summer mosquitos in AK swamps.. (frozen solidly now) ❄🇺🇸
