the biggest confusing part of dmrs is the first shot recoil, if anything I would think they would be very low to be able to compete with ar sprays and snipers 1 shot abilities

​@@CAMIKAZE78what do you say to Balance them around a two shot damage Model? Like keeping the low fire rate, but reducing recoil. The Main Problem with dmrs is when they are too spamy, and thus require no skill and can Dominate all Ranges. A low firerate would punish any miss, and stop you from using it like an ar.

Dmrs need a big buff they should be good in these large maps where you need range to kill but cqc to capture objectives - they are a mix

Reduce their recoil a little or first shit recoil. Also take away their DPS limit, i want to shoot as fast as i can click.

Dmrs need at LEAST a buff for the 1st shot kick and muzzle velocity. It makes no sense that ars like the aug have to lead less than dmrs that put heavier emphasis on accuracy and target placement.

Either reduce their recoil and recovery time to make them spammier or increase their damage so that they could two shot torso at a certain range. But I feel like reducing their recoil and recovery speed to make DMRs a spammy long range class of gun is a good compromise. Because right now high damage ARs like the AK15 and the Scar H is arguably a more versatile pseudo DMR compared the real DMRs.

M110 can 2 shot no body armor if you use Heavy or Long barrel Of course, good luck with the slog that is getting 260 kills to unlock heavy barrel. Then having to deal with the insane recoil increase until you get to 340 kills for long barrel. And that’s the best you get, with slightly less but still ridiculous recoil.

Your last statement is the reason I want them to go the heavy dmg route, that would be the only route truly seperating them from assault rifles. Lower recoil would do nothing but make them just as good at long range, but still worse on cqc than certain assault rifles.

I think they need to go one of two ways. Either a high damage high recoil weapon = 50+ dmg for 2 shot kills against no armor, or as you stated keep the lower dmg profile, but make them have almost no recoil, for easy use on their desired range. Then they should also increase the bullet velocity though.

Also add a few scopes just for dmr like the AK's? From 1 to 6 , I always want a middle ground to the trix and red dot. It depends on the map. I just feel like there is no middle ground(acog maybe), just a bunch of scopes that has less visibility with the red circle, it can block that one pixel to hit at some ranges. What Iff.. 6x with no glint(special bitglass for dmr xP), slightly more visible bullets and no dmg fall off, just bullet drop? Like he said, on a few maps the hits can be RNG.. So by not being easily spotted at first, you need to make sure to land the followups. Making it a unique fight between DMR and sniper at longer ranges, DMR got the better scope length and will spot enemies on a map like Basra vs medium across the plane crash valley easier without being spotted unless you are firing shots. And the sniper has to make his shot matter in return or get to cover with only able to survive 1 more hit.

BF3 did a good job with their DMR balance, three shot kill and a HS multi that allowed a one shot within like 20-30m. This let you do good damage at range while letting skilled players compete in CQC without overshadowing the bolt actions. Something like this would work well in BB given the ranges and scale.

i think the main answer to balancing this lies with battlebit’s lack of camera recentering, it makes full autos(combined with first shot multis) an entertaining and versatile weapons while semis feel impotent. i really hope they put a lot of effort into rebalancing them so there is variety both within the weapon class and within the weapon ecosystem as a whole.

I wish dmrs could be efficient up close. As someone who has seen some insane real world stuff. I can attest that a DMR up close, like a SVD does more damage to a human body than a 9mm, or 45 acp USP. Yet in battlebit there are worthless up close and essentially worthless long range too.

@giftzwerg7345 I mean what's the point? They 4-8 hit kill at long range, just hit marker machines, and if anyone rushes you they have no close power either. The only reason people are playing them because they want to not because they are optimal or even useful. I've got 180hrs in BBR and there has been zero circumstances where a DMR reigns in a situation. They just...suck.

I agree with your recommendations and analysis of DMRs. I want them to be good but they just aren't yet. I have 200 kills with Ebr and it feels underwhelming. I switched to the scar and it's a night and day difference.

It’s a bit weird for me to say, but I actually quite like the EBR’s slower fire rate. It’s probably placebo, and it’s definitely not a healthy weapon to get used to, but I feel bizarrely more accurate with it than I do with the AK15.

Exactly what I am feeling. I shred way more with the MK14 than with assault rifles since I like to engage at medium range where I can handle the recoil of the EBR way better than tye likes of the FAL.

More time to control the recoil I guess, but you would perform better with a stronger weapon. Might take some practice to manage the recoil, or you could just use an m4 lol

I love dmrs in a lot of games. But usless in BB indeed. 100% accuracy and lower first shot kick would be awesome and i think i will start to use them more. Btw you forget to mention 2 shot potencial on most targets with ranger barrel on m110 without headshot. Its only dmr build somewhat useable and fun. But the kick is harsh.

what does accuracy even do in this game? i find that even with 40% or 100% accuracy as long as i aim and click their head i kill them. is it even an important stat in the game? i thought it just affected weapon sway on your hip

Personally I think the effective ranges of SMGs and ARs need to go down to give DMRs and other weapon classes like LMGs more room to shine. After that it's a matter of finetuning their weapon stats. Primarily the recoil is a big issue.

i think ARs are fine, typically they're good for close and medium engagements and have a semi auto but takes several shots at long range. DMRs actually do have decent range but their horrendous recoil makes it harder to capitalize on that. SMGs do feel a bit too much though i agree, and it wasn't just the vector. id rather use the pp19 than any of the ARs, and the pp19 isn't even close to the best in the category; in fact it straight up sucks compared to the mp5 and with the right attachments barely competes with the mp7

I agree wholeheartedly. As someone who runs smgs all the time, I feel the ranges I can very effectively engage players is a bit absurd. Perhaps both SMGs and ARs should have their ranges nerfed at least by 25-50 meters, that would give DMRs more of a chance to be effective at the ranges they are supposed to be. A recoil buff would help there too.

I've really tried to make these things work, which is why the Mk14 is my current weapon with most kills, but know that by doing so I have put life on hard mode. I still remember using the Dragunov and the M14 in my COD days, so I guess I'm used to it. Only kind of positive I can say is that, for the mk14 in particular, I never hold down the fire button, using the weapon as a semi on its full auto mode. It makes it a semi with no refire rate, which was the way I could use semi auto snipers in COD/planetside. That said, PS2 had far superior dmr's. The refire rate was far more consistent there than in battlebit. They also have 2 shot kill potential with no armor (50+ damage) to counter snipe. Right now the only weapon that can do that is the M110 with heavy/long barrel, and the recoil on that thing is insane.

once you get that heavy barrel M110 is sweet 2 tapping peeps feels so fine. even can cqc with it pretty nice with a quick mouse clicking. just getting them kills to unlock it is ooooooooooh boi suffering, but i did it

My thoughts are cut the recoil in half, set the minimum accuracy (without attachments) no lesser than 95% & SIGNIFICANTLY increase bullet velocity far higher. BUT damage drop off kicks in massively somewhere between 200m-250ms. I really want these things to be an absolute terror in the 100m-200ms range to counter short range snipers & AR users straining their range. But make DMRs strain outside their range. In its current state, the AR people & snipers have nothing to fear. The AR people have sheer quantity of bullets going for them, & good snipers with decked out rifles know that even if they miss or get shot first, have sufficiently good quality of shots to outgun DMRs everywhere.

Agreed. I think the whole velocity system needs to be reworked. Slow rage of fire fine, but horrible velocity too? Thats not even remotely accurate for any real life DMR. I know it's not supposed to be a IRL simulator but still. Velocity is ridiculously low. But the devs said they won't want to touch weapons if they don't soon we will all leave. It's so boring with only 4 guns being useful

Dmr main here with 600+ kills on the m110 and 2000+ during the beta. The solution is 55+ damage (two hit kill) and a negative first shot recoil multipler. This would model dmrs after the real World, accuracy and hardhitting over volume of fire. This would naturaly balance them. The problem with dmrs is generaly when they are broken lowskill spammaschines. Youre not supposed to spam with a dmr! Having a negative first shot multiplier to balance high general recoil rewards accuracy and punishes inaccuracy and spamers. It rewards and forces a more slow and defensive tactical playstyle instead of mindless rushing. This ensures that dmrs are capible without beeing overbearing.

Increasing DMR's velocity by a lot would make it easier to hit shots. I think recoil is fine because DMR should be hard to use and feel punchy. You don't want to spam bullets in semi auto, you want to be rewarded for accurate shots. It's kinda hard to balance DMR without changing all other guns, but changing velocity is a harmful step in the right direction imo.

Agreed, out ranged by MP5 or SMGs in ranges that ARs should be is a bit tough. Not nullify their range to being useless, but decrease their effectiveness range at longer distances.

I actually found DMRs in general to be really good at counter-sniping, considering aim punch and rapid follow-up shots you can effectively suppress multiple snipers at once just tapping people and eventually they all die. Especially with the m110 and long barrel you get good enough accuracy out to acog sniper range (far enough for the entire map sometimes) and considering that many snipers run acog too you aren't even in much of a disadvantage at all. Also to reign in that recoil take the short magazines (Be prepared to reload a lot) with appropriate grips this combo can be pushed both as far as the acog will let you and even does surprisingly good at cqb due to being able to 2shot to the body

I love DMRs and they suit my playstyle well of either being defensive or a support role. They have always been a weapon type I gravitate towards. Even in battlebit I use and love them and got quite used to them. They aren't as frustrating to use anymore but it's frustrating knowing I'm gimping myself while using them even if I do good. I really hope for a DMR rebalance across the board and hopefully they can make mid range scopes more usable. Also I love that you can put a 6x scope on so you can give yourself away meanwhile you can also watch your well aimed shot completely miss by pixels because the range is too far. The most frustrating thing is those longer range kills or missing headshots at range from RNG. I think if they were more precise and with recoil more in line with the heavy ARs they would be in a good spot. Similar damage models but with range and accuracy advantages as they are intended to have over ARs

Honesty the m110 with the heavy barrel feels really good. It 2 shots people under a 100m. If you can flank choke points you can consistently 1 shot most of the damaged enemies. The 1st shot recoil still sucks but not having to land 3 shots makes it much more bearable.

*2 shots against no body armor. Still not reliable but already feels way better. Of course, recoil is ridiculous and only gets a little better when you unlock long barrel. Which btw, takes 260 and 340 kills respectively.

If a DMR takes the same number of shots to kill as a full-auto assault rifle, we’ve got a problem. None of the DMR’s are remotely viable until you get hundreds of kills on a select few of them. It’s pain.

@@joshlewis8860honestly, idk why (maybe that's because of "penetration " stat nobody knows about) but from my experience (1000+ kills) with long barreled m110, 90+% players die from 2 or less hits. Vast majority of the other 10% are exo armored supports, and I remember several occasions when people without exo refused to die after 2 hits (probably because one round has hit the helmet above the actual head or they wore exo helmet and non-exo armor)

Definitely agree they need a buff, not too sure personally what it could be but on a separate topic can they please remove the "find person location during death cam" feature when someone has a silencer equipped, it completely defeats the point of stealth play.

My take is to increase DMRs velocity and damage. I would go as far as to possibly reduce recoil too. Velocity should be a lot higher as DMRs feel hard to use at range on top of inconsistency from lower accuracy. Hell, the Aug has higher velocity than ALL of the DMRs, which should be illegal. We're gonna need a mega buff to around 900-1000, maybe higher even. This will give these weapons that long range potency and consistency they should have, though accuracy still won't be perfect for reasons I'll discuss later. The damage buff idea depends on the weapon being talked about. I do want one flat buff on all DMRs though: give them armor damage! I don't think all DMRs should be able to 2 shot naked targets, but I also don't think DMRs should ever need more than 3-4 well placed shots to kill a target. My solution is the aforementioned armor damage buff, letting DMRs do increased damage to foes with helmets and armor. I think this will solve the high shot count requirement for DMR kills, not letting these weapons pass 4 shots to kill an enemy. The "Battle Rifles" (AK15, Scar-H, and FAL) already 4 shot consistently, so we need to be on their level damage wise. Finally, the recoil reduction. Kinda simple: I would reduce vertical recoil universally to let these guns be strong, consistent options for medium range. If we do this, the Battle Rifles will have clear downsides in comparison to the DMRs: less velocity, less accuracy, and more recoil. These are enough issues to make DMRs more attractive for mid-to-long-range enthusiasts, so selling the DMRs further in the recoil department will certify these guns as better ranged weapons by a long shot. I hope these guys get buffed soon, really want to use 'em!

IMHO DMRs would benefit greatly by a "negative" first shot multiplier, let me explain: as Camikaze said, such weapon platform requires multiple shots on target, possibly moving and at range while preserving the semi-auto rate of fire to still engage in medium-closish range against ARs; most of them are semi-auto only with few exception, thus we as players are "invited" to play more akin to a sniper than to an assault: a first shot multiplier lower than 1 (let's say 0,80) rewards carefully placing shots at range and taking our time to properly acquire targets, while still punishing pray-and-spray and balancing the full-auto mode so that the weapon doesn't turn in an AR.

I agree with everything you've said with the exception being the SVD. With the right attachments and a bit of practice you can put people down hilariously fast in close to medium range all while having decent effectiveness at longer ranges. It's a legitimately good pick if you have a bit of patience and are looking for a jack of all trades type weapon.

in my personal opinion, the problem stems from how the game doesnt automatically pull your gun back to center after your onetaps. Idk what that mechanic is called but that type of "centering" is in EVERY game, only game that doesn't have this centering feature are the milsim shooters.

Hey Camikazi, can you do a video on how useless they have made the bipod? its literally useless when you can't post up on a chest height surface and have to lay down everytime to be a sitting duck for snipers.

Yeah, and if you try to look UP or DOWN it undeploys until you level out again. Not only does it F up your recoil for NO LOGICAL REASON, but unless your Prone, you almost never find a bit of "cover" to mount the gun on. You can't even just BUILD a sandbag to mount it on cus the sandbags sink into the ground ever so slightly so the bipod won't deploy.

@@jaywerner8415 With how little recoil reduction there seems to be from prone fire, I feel like it works against me unless I have significant height disparity; if I'm in a hurry I feel I'm more likely to overcorrect on countering the recoil and hit the ground instead of the target than if I were crouched.

DMRs are scary because there are people out there who are freakishly good with them even considering their poor state in the game. And if you buff them in even slightly the wrong way, they’ll be absolutely terrifying.

The best dmr is an assault rifle and the best sniper is the heat rpg. Here's how you fix it: Snipers get a damage buff (70 for SSG and 80 for m200) Long range scopes glint disappears at certain ranged (depending on magnification eg 50m for 6X and 1000 M for 40X) DMRs now start fall off at 600m DMRs have 120-130% of an ARs recoil on average. DMRs now have a standard 2 body and 2 headshot damage model or can achieve it with long/heavy barrel in the case of the faster DMRs

As someone who play mostly sniper the DMR in theory should allow us to run close with the squad and put very accurate shot down range very quickly. However they don't In the range where they would be ideal they are better guns. I typical go with fast mobility assault with the scar instead for type of role. Forget slapping a long range scope on them, between the glint the RNG and the recoil it useless to try to use them anything longer then 200meters. I do run with DMR every so often but I'm not looking to get kills I am looking to wound or assist in a kill. However with how the scoring works, if your working and pushing on point and assisting a fire fight you often will end the game with little to no kills and a score that looks like you did nothing even tho you where in a firefight the whole game. So your not even getting rewarded for being in a support role. I found using the SSG-69, the L-96 or SV-98 are better for that style even if your not getting a second shot off faster. With the new update allowing for sniper round to create more stun make this even more viable. I love sitting in perch, watch over three objective and rain down precision hell down and counter sniping, but sometime you want to be in the heat of things on the front line, where the stakes are so much higher.

Here's my balance suggestion for the DMRs: Change their stats (either via headshot multiplier or damage increase) to allow them to one-shot headshot targets up to a range of 100-200 meters (Im not sure yet which range would be the best balance decision). I'm leaning towards 100-125m because even 150m may be TOO strong. As you mentioned, if you tune these weapons wrong, they can become TOO good. Then to compensate, you can give them a increased damage penalty at farther ranges. What this does is let DMR players dominate the mid range, as longer range ARs like the AUG/SCAR-H/FAL would have a hard time competing. They could fight back, but would need to land 3 body shots or 2 headshots compared to the DMR's 1. However, the DMRs would still get face rolled if they tried to go up against enemy snipers, as at the 200m+ range they would get in trouble fast. DMRs tends to be my favorite playstyle in FPS, and the fact they are the worst weapons in Battlebit has been sad for me. I've been using weapons like the AUG and L96 as psuedo DMRs, but I'd love to see the actual DMR class get some fixes so I can play those weapons properly, as I prefer that playstyle to pure sniping.

TTK makes it very hard to balance. There is no wiggle room. Maybe they should all be more like M110 + heavy barrel where you can 2 shot most people in the chest but with a slightly improved recoil and accuracy like you've mentioned.

i personally believe that the DMRs need an armour pierce mechanic, where they can ignore a % of the body armour and do health dmg to balance their abysmal ttk into something more manageable, not only in close range but through medium and long ranges as well alternatively, give them a different damage window across all ranges that compliment medium range useage, for example: mk14 ebr gets 40 dmg from 0-100, then ramps up to 50/60 dmg at 200-250m, then goes back down to 40/50-ish at 300-350m, this allows them to shine in the medium ranges without being overshadowed by someone with an ar, keeps the same close range performance as of now and doesnt encroach on long range weapon territory

Surprisingly the M14 is the only DMR I use, and I think it is because it sports the full auto option. I dont use it often but my performance with that weapon outstrips the rest of the DMRs by a considerable margin.

I main the M110 with x4/1x canted. It's my most kills gun by ~500kills (~1300 total) and normally get into the top ~10 of my games. I love that DMR's are getting attention as I also do believe they need some love. Your suggestions are great! I'd agree with your suggestions and I laughed at how frustrating the video must have been to make. DMR's are not unusable they just require a difference of playstyle, I avoid the meat grinder and run flanks or take on the smaller flag battles. Having the Glock 18 helps close quarter.

@giftzwerg7345 Run the long barrel, 2 hit chest kill up to 300m. Keep towards the back but with your team, find flanking opportunities and it's easy. If you get used to having to do 1 follow up shot it's easy to double-tap consistently. Most enemies don't react fast enough or simply don't react to getting hit once straight away. If you need to 3 shot kill, then it's hard as all enemies react and move to evade the 3rd shot.

This is probably an unpopular take, but instead of reducing recoil much, I would increase the damage and accuracy of the DMRs to rival snipers, but remove any headshot multiplier. Just make them a fairly consistent 2 shot kill at all ranges, with it being balanced by low fire rate and handling at close range compared to ARs, and a slightly more forgiving and consistent alternative to a sniper at mid-long ranges. I'd like to hear what you guys think about this idea.

@@user-if4zv5nj5m yeah its pretty close, the long barrel only takes it up to like 51 damage though. any armor at all will take you to a 3 shot kill, even more so when your damage starts falling off at range. I was thinking more like 55-75 damage so you could 2 shot against all but the heaviest of armor at basically any range.

@@mni833idk why (probably because of "penetration" stat nobody knows about), 90+% of my kills took 2 or less hits, even when I'm shooting to ppl who aren't engaged and are just running from their spawn. From my 1000 kills I can remember just a couple occasions when I had to put more than 2 rounds into a target which didn't wear a full exo armor, and those probably involved somebody wearing exo helmet I refuse to think that 90% of players wear light armor only, and we don't fully understand how does the armor works for the high pen rifles, so m110's 51-ish is oddly absolutely enough

You hit the nail on the head that using the Scar or Fal in semi-auto is better than a DMR, while Sniping is better for one shotting than a DMR. I think we all agree DMR needs a buff but the devil is in the details to not make them op.

I feel like a 1.5x chest multi would be really good. It will allow every DMR to two shot regardless of long or heavy barrel and give it enough room that accuracy doesn't matter as much.

The hilarity of how bad DMRs are is that I run ARs with semi auto because that first shot kick is stronger then a 50 cal for DMRs. By the time you realign from the kick of a dmr you've killed 2 people with a semi auto AR

2x headshot multiplier and improved accuracy/recoil, but maybe even reduce the base damage. Make them medium range monsters if you can hit those head shots, but extremely reliant on them. Long range capability would come from lack of falloff. It feels like they have gone with the wrong instincts with regards to how recoil should interact with realism. Larger caliber weapons do have more recoil in reality, but they also put considerably more energy down range. When they normalise damage to make SMGs viable they lose all the benefit that large calibers get you, but they are keeping the down side. The probably should lean harder into the 'game' side of things, and pick stats based on the percieved role things have, and how the stats affect that role. Recoil in particular is pretty much the dominant stat at medium range, so DMRs and assault rifles should have better recoil stats than the SMGs. Realism in terms of handling would be exchanged with realism in terms of function.

I'd love a DMR buff, they need one 100% but they are not unusable like the video is suggesting if you keep distance and run flanks.

My "DMR" is the SCAR-H. I've killed people at 300m regularly. My longest is just under 600m. Plus, I have full auto to fall back on in CQB.

I played plenty with m110, mk14 and svd (mk20 is the worst of them all) and never noticed accuracy getting in the way even when firing at stationary targets 800m away, so I am actually doubtful this stat means anything They are decent at 100-150 range, where you can actually somewhat reliably lead your shots but outside of those ranges I always thought I'd much rather have an ar or sniper rifle Hell aug3 with trx scope performes way better at this range in full auto Your proposals of reducing recoil / making crosshair recovery faster sound decent to me, currently chaining those 3 shots is quite a tough undertaking

I have been saying that the DMR's are just a statistically worse AK-15/Scar-H since launch. The M110 requires a lot of kills to unlock the ranger muzzle which pushes it into 2 body shots against unarmored, doing that was noticeable but not game changing. The EBR is honestly just a sad, worse AK-15, I see 0 reason to use it. The SVD is the only DMR in which I have actually had a decent time using it, even being a 3 shot kill being able to rapidly follow those up due to the weapons fire rate feels a crazy amount better than any of the other DMRs.

Welp, I guess I got the MK14 EBR review i was asking for - at least in a way xD. Yeah, the DMR'S sadly aren't very good, but I still enjoy playing them at times. Which is why I enjoy the Mk 14 so much, as it has the option for full-auto fire for those closer engagements.

personally think once you unlocked a gun via rank i believe, theres absolutely no reason to look back ant any other gun. everyone is mainly running the GOAT of the guns, and its usually the same gun because its meta. its pretty much the gun for any and all scenarios beside sniping because 90-95% of the player base are runnin and gunnin in a flood like formation, hardly any tactical placement what so ever. i think rank earning guns should be harder not easier. maybe a yearly rank reset? tough topic to figure out but i see no point in running lower teir guns, ever.

A lot of people suggest to buff the recoil and fire rate. This is not a good idear. It will turn dmrs into spammaschines, and hard to Balance. They are to simular to ars, basicly semi auto long range dmrs, and will either be too op, or to weak. Dmrs shouldnt try to compete with fire rate, but with presision and high damage! Make them two tap like the m110 with long barrel rn, and make the recoil controllible. This way dmrs will be very rewarding if you hit your shots, and punishing if you dont. The lower firerate will stop them from competeing with the ars for the more aggressive playstyle. Without beeing outguned in close or mid range.

Dmrs, the VAL/Honey Badger, and about half the ARs all feel rough. It feels like they designed everything to work with a much longer range than you generally see, case in point an SMG burns you down at any range within 80 meters. I've dug using the SVD myself, treat it like the SKS in BF4. You'll get out classed but if you aren't trying to sweat it's a hell of a lot of fun.

the DMR isn't bad at all. the m110 is the best one and the fire rate of DMRs beat a bolty. also once you get the range finder, you can hit people at 1300m with a medium scope easy. usually firing two bullets before they even realize they've been hit. also correction is much easier with a DMR on a moving target where a bolty can only fire one and the target has to be stationary.

SCAR allows you to shoot with short bursts. DMRs force you to shoot, pull down, shoot again, pull down again, and before another shot, get killed.

I used the initial unlocked starter dmr on the Engineer. Until I unlocked the AK15, at which point I looked at the stats and had to question why I'd even bother with the DMR once I had a mid-range scope available for the AK15. The DMRs getting reduced recoil is a good step, but I actually think doing something to solve the cadence of fire issue they have would be helpful. Put bluntly, you HAVE to time your followup shots perfectly, otherwise your fire rate is LOWER than the stated. That needs something done about it, as it makes DMRs even harder to use than they already are.

Honestly, the baffling part is that battle rifles like the SCAR-H, AK-15, and FAL has surprisingly low vertical and first shot recoil compared to DMRs. If anything else, you can easily use those battle rifles as a sort of DMR to outshoot DMR users. the DMR's current weakness is its low rate of fire (you cannot spam tap quickly), first shot recoil is too high to make if practical for faster follow-ups, and for some reason, many DMRs carry around 14,16 round instead of the usual 20. Because of just how hard it is to do a follow-up, I find it more practical to run long range AR (with longer range dropoff (AUG, SG550), go semi, and tap people to death with it. the AUG is even better than all the DMRs thanks to its default 900m/s velocity, which you can improve even further with the long barrel mod. If anything, all the DMRs should have their magazine cap default at 20. in the general chaos of a 127v127 match, the current capacity is insufficient to lock down an area and you get bumrushed hard. And to make follow-ups easier, their first shot recoil should be much lower as a buff to compensate for their slow rate of fire. Personally, I would love it if the Mk14 gets a default of 20 rounds with the extended upping it to 25, and a rate of fire buff from 400 to 450. That at least gives the recon class a sort of lesser AK-15 to run with.

The best way to fix them would be to Model them around a two bullets to kill damage Model like what the m110 with longbarrel has. This is perfect to represent the hart hitting presision of a dmr in game. This way we wont have any of the problems we have with sharing the same 3 shot to kill model of the heavy ars . The way how bbr works with maps and objectives means that capebility in 50 and 100 meters is far more Important than anything above that, like 2 times so. Any tadeof in cqc has to be doubled in range to be worth taking. If we buff its close (mid) range capebility by buffing recoil and fire rate, we end up with a better or worse scar, best example the mk14. If we buff the long (mid) range by buffing recoil alot, so you can acctually kill somebody, and maby buff velocity. We will either create a spam Monster that will make the whole Server curse. Getting spammed at distance isnt fun. Or it wont really be worth using. Any compromise will feel very simular to the scar. 4 more scars? I dont think the game needs more weapons that can laser you at range. So why not go with a different damage model. A two hit to kill model would fit the first two dmrs perfectly, bringing thier theoretical ttk up to the m4. This would only be the case if you dont miss a Single shot! Every miss would increase it by 50%! Thus a very high skill high reward weapon. This Focus on accuracy should be increased by reducing the first shot recoil by a lot. While keeping the General recoil high. This will keep people from spaming it while rewarding true marksmen with a double taps or accurate follow up shots. While The high damage will allow dmrs to compete in cqc. The strong Focus on accuracy will keep them in check, forcing an Overall more thoughtfull, tactical, slow defensive approach. (Holding angels instead of rushing in. ) This way we now have a weapon class that trully feels different and offers a different playstyle from the rest.

snipers are designed to be the guns with the 2 bodyshots to kill threshold, while most rifles stay at the 4 bullets to kill, the problem currently is the high dmg rifles reaching the same 3 bullets treshold as DMRs while having better magazine capacity and the viability for closer range gunfights by being full auto. snipers are heavily incentivized to hit headshots to get a 1 shot kill. At such a long range and slow rate of fire tagging enemies mean you are much less likely to hit a follow up shot and the enemy is more likely to find cover. a 2 shot dmr likely wouldn't have the damage to hit 1 shot headshots resulting in no incentive in hitting headshots making it a very low skill weapon. and you may ask what evidence do I have to back this up? well I played the limited playtests last year, where they had 2 shot to kill DMRs. it was the most braindead play style imaginable and I felt dirty abusing it.

Bru, i mained dmrs from the Beginning of the beta. Its neither skilles nor brain dead, hitting two concequtive shots with higher recoil and low fire rate on a moving target is anything but low skill. Especialy in a game where laser ar are the meta! Idk how you played them, but i simply used them at all Ranges, with a more tactical playstyle. Tapping people at a distance, to them take the Position over on cqc, to then taping reenforcments ecra.

How exactly is a spam dmr more skillfull than a two tap dmr? You havnt acctually engaged with any of my points. Where i explain why two tap is more skill / better. A weapon doesnt need headshots to be skillfull. But if you want headshots to be more effective, make the Player bleed.

​@@darren8608snipers arnt the weapons of two shot kill, they are balanced around the one shot headshot! Let me prove it to you: if you take way the oneshot headshot, they become nearly useless. If you make it 3 body shots instead, it would be a hard nerf, but if you hit your shots its still works. Snipers are centered around hitting one presision shot, dmrs are centered around hitting multiple presise shots. The sniper is the only weapon that relies on headshots by Design, for every other weapon class its usually a skill multiplier not a requirement.

Compared to the heavy hitting assault Rifles, DMRs should have a slower fire rate, but the ability to bring faster accurate follow up shots by either reducing recoil or making it reset faster. This would allow the assault rifles to be best at ranges where more but less accurate bullets are the way to go, while DMRs work better at ranges where slightly fewer but more accurate shots work better. DMRs are usually heavier anyway, perceived recoil should be lower.

The mk14ebr has a full auto function, and has a decent kill timer in barrel stuffing. You get short and long range capability, but fall off in that short-to-mid range ~30/50m distance. It's... *almost* okay. The rest of the DMRs are totally useless.

The SVD is honestly better than the MK14. Way less recoil, and you can rapid-fire it just about as fast as the EBR's full auto function. Plus, the SVD has a very fast reload compared to other DMRs

Yep, I was saying this last time I played...it seems the best advantage for really any map is to have a low recoil, fast RPM and high velocity weapon with low damage... Using the SCAR for example has not been fun...ofc though, I like to PLO or at least defend so close quarters is my preference.

Personally I don’t mind the recoil I think my problem is the damage profile for the dmr’s. Only the m110 can hit the 50+ damage mark with certain barrels making it 2 shot kills against unarmored enemies in the body. I think they need to reinforce one of the roles it’s supposed to have so either increase damage and keep the weapon handling slow, or increase fire rate and make the handling a little bit better to use.

I think just bringing the recoil on them right down would make them a lot more viable to use. I just pull out a scar-h most of the time if that's the kind of thing I want to do. Failing that i use the AK-15 and even then i have the option to do a bit nuts if i want to.

Don't call me crazy, but image this. The map is Namak and you pick the Recon class with the DMR of your choice. You've just successfully killed a cluster of five enemies with your landmine drone strike at point C. Then joining in with the frontline push at C, you stay behind your meat shield team mates and plink away at the enemies getting some kills. An impact grenade smacks you square in the face and the chances of a revive in that chaos is 0% as all the medics are dying faster than they can save people. Respawn, Rinse, Repeat Endless DMR fun right there 😆 (I don't think I'm a competitive player)

Well youre not supposed to archive accuratcy thru volume, yozre suposed to tap, its the damage thats to low not the fire rate.

I was able to set up a 20ms auto clicker that made the m110 shoot like the mk14. Rapid fire is very inconsistent when spam firing and you get more "first shot" recoil

Kinda been maining dmr since i started playing (suck at recoil so...) and the conclusion i came to with dmrs are, that they kinda function as a punishing weapon for players who dont leave their post after being shot at, well at least that was before the bandage heal was added as now when you hit them, they either stay where they are, hoping it was a miss fire or they run to cover, heal up and return fire. Was thinking that a good addition to dmr would be to either have their shots increase the speed at which you bleed out as the bullet would leave a bigger hole, or maybe have a sort of stun granade (but weaker) when you hit them in the head. Maybe have it like a sniper where you can choose which bolts you shoot and they can cause either of these (and the recoil, please for the love of god decrease the recoil). Also the 6x scope doesnt really feel like an "upgrade" to the scope since the projectile speed is simply too slow to compensate the distance required.

I agree that it needs a buff but I think the method of buffing should be similar to how the sniper rifles are handled. Either increase the damage the farther a target is or increase the damage in a certain range in a bell curve manner. For example, one dmr could deal best damage at 500 meters and drop off before and after where another can be 600 meters. It can balance the dmr's as well as put it in its own category while also being treated as an in between weapon.

500 m, Bru, its a dmr not a Auto sniper, youre suposed to be a Marks man for your Squad at any range. A sweetspot only Leads to Camping and Totally gors against the purpose of a dmr

yeah the only distance where a DMR could be considered the best pick is about 180-250m. On sandy sunset in frontline there are often situations where you fight exactly at those ranges if the first points are captured. But you'd want a 2x scope for those distances and I don't have that unlocked on any DMR, so i just stick with the scar at those distances. I tried unlocking the 2x scope but I gave up quickly, playing a DMR outside of 120-280m is not fun

I think there’s room for the m110 to be an anti helicopter DMR to some degree, I’ve been trying it out on my anti-vehicle engineer build

I managed to get some headshots, followed by a body shot on pilots, but no kills. Snipers or even Desert Eagle are much better for this job

@@Zorcky-2C I’m not talking about anti pilot necessarily, I’m talking anti vehicle, as in the 4 damage it does per shot adds up, if you can hit the tail rotor enough times you can get it to spin out or just blow up a smoking littlebird

@@Zorcky-2C I don’t think it will redefine anti little bird strats necessarily, but it’s definitely way easier to hit 5 shots with the DMR on a moving little bird vs hitting it once with a rocket at least for me. And if I happen to hit the pilot once or twice in the process, awesome maybe I can get the kill, but I’m primarily trying to hit the helicopter in general

@@RoosterCP i like going helicopter hunting with the M2000 sniper hahah. It works really great. It's tough with the rocket launcher. You need the helicopter to fly near you. Or i'm just not skilled enough with rocket launcher

This is a easy fix you make dmr under idk (put a numer here) 80m and then start rasing dmg just like a snipers but to cap on a 70 or whatewer just to make them usbale to 2 hit enemys from the range
