The dreaded Golden Hat of Broken Friendships.

Jeez, this level is certainly a pants buckler...

This actually made me tear up a bit. And the sudden Bambi happy song did not help. All that effort to save him, and he turned into a vegetable. F*ck.

My theory is that hatty isn't really dead.... He was just being controlled by the hat... Forced to hurt his friends... That's why he is always crying. Being forced into major depression, he looms around all day. Not moving. In one of the cutscenes it flows through the time that hatty was on the chair, and it ends five years later. If you look clocked in the hall of dudes, that bear, with the star nipples, (lol) is in the bottom right corner, therefore he was the previous owner of the hat. All of the other dudes were awesome, but the bear was banished to space by the cats (that's why you see him in space in buckle your pants) because he was bad, and wouldn't treat the theatre properly. since the bear was bad, the hat naturally became bad, which took over poor hatty. At the end, when hatty sinks to the bottom of the ocean, and his hat lands on top of him, but he overthrows the bad in the hat, with the happiness of his friends, so it glows green, unlike its usual red. Eventually, a laser of the good send ping back the bad, shoots up to space. It dosnt harm the boat, it just knocks it over. The plane? It was heading from the island, probably the cats looking for a new leader. The spaceship? Alien hominid has a gun. And finally, the laser shoots into the bear, the previous owner of the hat. The good got rid of the bad for good. That is my theory and I hope it sounds true enough! Just a few words that I live by... MYAHHH SEE?!? Love hatty, and buckle your pants!

is it weird i cried at the end? that end song hit me right in the feels (Before buckle your pants)

My theory? See, if you go to 0:13 and look at the picture of Purrham Furbottom, the hat is glowing green. Then, in the very bottom right, closest to the vault door, you see Honey Hug. In the outside scene before Chapter 7, Honey Hug is definitely very, very bad. Since his photo is in the frame, he must have had the hat once. Now, in all the other photos, everyone seems either happy or neutral. So, this is just a guess, everyone's soul is mirrored into the hat, which means Honey Hug made it evil. Hatty must have been the next person to get the hat after Honey Hug, and that means the evil of Honey Hug started to fight the good of Hatty. The battle slowly put Hatty into paralysis, and he fought and fought while in this state. But, when his hat fell off of his head near the end, when the player's character gives him a hug, it gives him a short break, until the hat lands on his head again at the bottom of the ocean. The good in him readies itself for the evil in the hat, and attacks with great strength when it lands. The throbbing of the green light is the battle going on. Then, in a burst of energy, the good takes over. It throws the evil out in a powerful beam of green light, which ends up killing the evil Honey Hug. Now, for my post-ending guess. When the evil was banished from the hat, the goodness that filled his heart and hat formed a bubble that carried him up. It popped right as he landed on the boat. Problem is, the boat was flung by the waves caused by the green beam. His friend went in the water! He looked to his right, and saw them struggling. He then looked to the left, and saw a float. He tossed it over to his friend, and safely brought him onto the boat. As they hugged, the last tears of Hatty slipped away. But not as sad tears, but tears of joy. The friends were reunited at last. Finally, all of the friends arrived home. Everyone who decided to stay behind was very happy to see them back safe. And so, everyone was happy, and Hatty was safe. P.S, do not say anything like "Oh, well, how do you know they caused a bubble?" It was just a guess, or a personalized ending.

Gezz this level is so tense. You are running this course to save Hattie's life, also the music adds more tenseness, hell even the narrator screams " RUN " at the begining

I played this game randomly, searching for a quick match. I joined a campaign game. Some dude was struggling to finish the last level, and I had no idea it was the last level, so I was quite frustrated that it took so long to finish!

All I can think of is the two of them screaming at each other while this happens like “GET THE HAT” “WHAT DO YOU MEAN GET THE HAT? WE NEED TO FINISH THIS SEGMENT!”

The story is the owners cats were trying to find a leader who could harness the hats power for evil. They found hatty, and his happiness made him evil from the hat. His happieness then came into him from the hat. The voices saying no were the previous owners of the hat.

I think Hattey is still alive but the reason he is not moving is that the hat is cursed,giving it's wearer unable to control his body and a want to take over the world.but that's what I think

I felt like that was kind of a depressing and mysterious ending...that leaves so many questions un-answered

What i think : as you saw in the big picture of the person who owned the theatre, the hat was glowing green because he was caring and loved.But because he died, the hat got mad and couldnt find another good owner untill hatty came along. At the end, it glows green because hatty is loved and is caring. :)

He is not dead he is just in a coma because all of the souls that possessed the before Hatty have taken over him and the reason the cats angry at him is because they thought that he would be good but the hat was evil and the reason the bear got shot with a laser in the end is because the bear is the maker of the evil hat and the green laser that shot up in the sky was ugh it has something to do with the Alien Hominid because the Alien Hominid got shot with a laser I mean of missile from a sleeping FBI agent and the reason that hatty is crying is because he is hurting all of his friends but he can't control it BOOM MINDBLOWN

HATTY LIVES!!!! Red glowing things are bad but at the end the hat glowed green. Also for a tiny bit before the laser was shot up, the tears from Hatty's eyes disappeared!

I hate games that end this way. The ending to this game, and castle crashers had no conclusion, or resolution just a dumb joke.

Recommendations taking me back in time to see my 8 year old self watch Honeyhug get blown to bits again.

Heh... A couple of the hidden gems on the second segment would always stump me, as I always felt pressured by the music to rush and not really pay attention. I'll love this game always!

my friend's brother has a pretty legit explanation for the ending. The bear with the star nipples is in the hall of dudes and was the last person to bear the hat before Hatty. He isn't wearing the hat so he may have cursed it or something. when Hatty put on the hat, he didn't die, but he was put into a mental struggle against the evil in the hat. at the very end when the laser shot out of the hat, Hatty's tears disappear, because he won the struggle and cleansed the hat of evil. Just a theory.

Hatty is not dead, he has been reincarnated as Horatio in Pit People. I gave him a Hatty head and he kicked ass.

When I finished this game, I destroyed my damn controller. This game destroyed 3 of my friendships, wasted like 14 hours of my life, to save Hatty, who is now a vegetable ;-;. Still one of the best games I ever played. :D

Much like the ending of Castle Crashers, in the end, everyone died, and the main characters got over it with partying.

My theory is when you pause at 11:09 You see his tears go away and Earlier in the game he said Red = bad Then Green = Good. Or if he became a vegetable people use the term "Vegetable" as a person in a coma where they cant think, feel, or blink or do anything but breathe. So .... Idk what to think doe

That being Said, the narrator already stated that "Well, Your Best Friend Is Now A Vegetable." Meaning Hatty is sorta still alive, but not able to communicate or really do anything.

Wow I had no idea how much stamper was involved. He made a few songs (including the one in this video) And voiced the players characher.

I actually cried not only cos he kinda died but mostly cos I spent like 10 months and stayed up late with the idea that I was going to save my friend and I felt like I failed, I was only 8 and it was actually traumatic now that I think about it..

If you notice, the end of this is the exact start of Pit People.

No what happens is that the whole time Hatty was so friendly that in his mind he was fighting the evil hat and at the end when is hat turns green it means he won the battle.

if you see at the right time, after the "buckle your pants" song and hatty fires his beam, one of the thing that is destroyed is ALIEN HOMINED
