Rubric marines and i believe the standard scarab acult terminators are dust and basically are modtly mindless zombies but any of the sorceror units have a physical for and a mind of their own and are not dust as their psychic powers protected them

The Rubric only killed the members of the Sons who were the weakest magically. So the more magically adept - IE the leaders - were left intact. It was an attempt to save the chapter from the transformations that they were going under, as the Thousand Sons were a chapter that weren't entirely willing in their conversion to Chaos.

@Games Night, Lore wise: Ahriman is actually still a human (how mutated he is is unknown) and he was outcast from the main Thousand Sons legions by Magnus because of what he did (which he feels really bad about, he was just trying to make the Rubrics immortal but accidentally turned them into automatons) which is why Ahriman has been invading Craftworlds to try and find a "spell" to reverse what he did to the Rubrics.

I love the Eldar lore. They were so decadent and hedonistic they created a GOD of hedonism. Then half of them said "woah. WAY too much hedonism. We need to become super spartan now" and the other half said "Let's get even MORE EXCESSIVE AND HEDONISTIC!"

So a correction on Lewis' lore All the standard marines are dust but any psykers are fine, so Ahriman and the aspiring sorcerers aren't dust but all the other marines are

Ahriman did *not* cast the rubric of Ahriman on himself because he reckoned it would have unforseen consequences so he avoided using it on himself so in case the marines he cast it on lost the marines lost their ability to make decisions so he could continue to lead his company. He managed to piss off Magnus the Red by casting the rubric

The rubric only affected the members of the legion that weren't psykers, so only the rank and file of the legion, not their upper echelon, including ahriman, go turned into dust

Joel Ritter Sorcerers have turned into rubricae before. Sobek, Hathor, Amon are all examples of Rubricae sorcerers that have turned to dust. Besides, all Thousand sons Space Marines born on Prospero were innate psykers in their own right. Pretty much every citizen on prospero has psychic ability.

Psychic focus means you can't cast the same spell more than once a turn, additonally smite can only be cast once each per psyker in a turn :)

All the thousand sons sorcerers are still human, Ahriman didn't want to turn the thousand sons into dust, but it just happened. It was his attempt to stop the terrible mutations.

Jonathan Woollett-Light That didn't stop him from turning his oldest student, his comrades and Magnus' adoptive father into dust. Sobek, Sanakht, Hathor Maat and Amon all turned to dust or died because he pulled the rubric of Ahriman on them.

Bit shit that you completely disregarded one of the major rules of the psychic phase, that a psyker can't manifest the same spell more than once. Ahriman couldn't have manifested smite 3 times by himself.

PureH Nah. Scarab occult terminators were some of the most powerful sorcerers in the 31st Millennium and they still turned into dust in walking suits of armour

Scarab occult terminators were the bodyguards of magnus, not all of them were pyskers.

PureH In both A Thousand Sons and Inferno, it is pretty much confirmed that all Scarab Occult Terminators are sorcerers since they are able to act telepathically as 1 unit without needing to talk or relay orders. They all need to pass the Dominus Liminus, a test that can only be accomplished by psykers that would award them a force khopesh stave after passing as well as Terminator Honours. Besides, in the Thousand Sons organisation, non-psykers (mostly Terran) were placed in lower ranks regardless of skill or experience. Also the fact that their recruiting population of Prospero are all psykers to some degree, it's not far fetched to say that all Scarab Occult Terminators are sorcerers.

DO YOOOOOOOU HEAR THE VOICES TOOO, LEWIS?! CHAOS!... CONSUME US!! I have a World Eater army and I'm quite frankly shocked thousand sons weren't able to handle some IG. Then again the generating attacks for berzerkers in melee gets really out of hand when fighting imperium. People should post their fav/best Chaos army - Trying to mod my World Eaters to ultimate destruction for a tourney in July.

I know its a bit late but Ahriman isn't made of dust. After the burning of Prospero, Ahriman did a ritual to stop the sorcerers from slowly being changed by warp. However, this ritual instead bound any non-psyker to there own power Armour and turning everything inside to dust. Just a hand thing to note. Also get Magnus he's op, rarely fails tests and can cast a 2 D6 Smite.
