Nice video but I can't help but feel suspicious that the creator's files got nuked as of this morning...not long after the release of your video. These videos are interesting and all well and good to people who are thinking of getting into printing or just starting out...but shining a massive light onto them causes them issues, and now one of the best creators of proxy space bugs has had their files taken down...

well Sam congrats on highlighting this creator to GW as he's just been hit by them...as someone who has paid good money for the STLs from this creator to then receive a message from him saying it's been deleted, I do believe as a community we need think twice about showcasing things like this, especially the stuff that can be seen as "on the nose" or a blatant copy.

Pretty sure this isnt the first time that you posting like this has resulted in the take down of files. It's scummy to be prioritizing cashing in on sponsorships by pushing these videos at the expense of the creators and others in the hobby that can no longer get the files.

You should asked the authorisation of file designers before featuring any of their work on your video's even you if don't give names, links or sites, you know who's watching your videos. I think you may have helped to nuke some of the best alternative bugs designer around. No hate for you but you should think about the potential consequences of you video's from now on

I can't know for sure that this video helped laser target Butov's files, so I'll take a bit of a different tack from the other comments and say maybe, in the future, if you want to showcase 3D printed models from talented creators you COULD use for 40k, don't focus on how much money you're saving because that's essentially sticking a thumb in James Workshop's eye.

Sad news if another creator got shut down. I'd like to see BBS just show what he printed and not a run down showing stuff online etc. And start showing more attention to detail with painting. Great models but are let down by the paint jobs. I guess his thing is printing not painting and sponsors giving printers won't sponsor for painting. I think though if he stopped showing the website stuff and just focus on the actual printing and then maybe a decent paint job after (not just slapping a wash on everything).

I have, and will continue to spend money to support creators. Think about it this way: if I was to commission a sculptor to come up with a proxy for a Norn, it would cost probably upwards of $300-$400 for a decent sculpt, and realistically it should cost a LOT more. The time it takes them to actually make they may only be charging somewhere in the realm of $15-20 an hour, which-for a lot of these high-end sculptors-is a travesty. I bought the $50 file happily. It's still less than half the cost of the official model and if I ever want to run an "oops, all norns!" list, I absolutely can. The freedom and flexibility it offers more than makes it worth it. Cost of living is high, support the amazing artists in our community.

Shame on you. You're actively hurting the community and making money out of it.

I was able to snag some recently nuked Nid files a while back that blow GW out of the water. I have not bought many files as I am buying them as needed but the cost is negligible on files that will see a lot of use. I have obtained some shoplifting bugs that specialize in denim pants for about $15. That seems reasonable from the off especially considering the shear number of bodies and they are compatible with the free shootee lil bugs. By the time you reverse the sculps you end up with multiple unique broods where no two minis are alike and the cost is pennies apiece for the file cost. I am working on a big ship from Loot Studios ATM but once that is done I am drawing an army from the hat (SM/DG/Nid/Necron) and printing out three kilos of minis.

The thing about expensive files is this, once you buy it, you don't have to buy it again. So even if printing it once is around the same price, the second you print it a second or even 3rd time, you'll have saved money still.

I'm feeling the itch to start a new 40k army, but i have no clue which one so I am going to 3D print a battle Iine unit proxy from my short list of factions to see if I like painting them, and then print a full proxy army to play test with before investing in a g-dubs official army for tournament play.

Although these files are expensive for stl they are totally worth it considering the level of details. This is not a scan as plenty of people mistakenly think, this as been created by digital hand so it must have taken a lot of time to make all those tiny details since they are not an object or Armour or mechanical part, being organic they are more rounded and more difficult to create. Like cloth and cloaks, there are not a lot of great ones because it takes skill and time to create a natural shape

FYI the creator of these files stopped because of this video. He got nuked by GW. Sam you are a detriment to this community.

Also worth noting is that many of the STL files from these creators go on sale, which GW never does, so even the 50$ ones could be had for 30 or so every once in a while

Another source if you want an alien hive suitable for far future grim dark play are the ones from One Page Rules. Not exactly a clone of the nids but has a familiar flavor and I believe they usually make sure to make a proxy for each GW model for their line.

I understand everyone is rightly upset but I feel that anger and frustration is better served directed to GW for being so anticonsumer in the first place that we seek out other avenues to get models to play their game. That rather than adapt to the changes 3d printing brings to the miniature hobby world, ie providing their own stl list or even creating a subscription with these lists even going to popular creators and paying them to provide their links on such a service they choose to go nuclear and spam dmcas. Hold to problem player accountable.

Ok. You say they are expensive, but it's still less than the overpriced plastic one and better looking, plus as you say, you can print as many as you want for just the cost of the resin afterwards. I'm 61 and have been modelling since my early teens, mainly aircraft and armour but I have bought the odd plastic model from 'that' company and I look at them and what strikes me about them is thick sprue gates and soft sh*ity plastic that is not good to sand and of course overpriced. Usually thick sprue gates means low pressure molding usually associated with low volume run kits. I built one of their 'tank' kits once and i look back now and smile at the 20-30 pieces (if that) that made up the kit and took a couple of hours to assemble. I have just been working on a modern AFV that had full interior detail, separate track links and the kit was made up of over 500 parts including etched metal detail parts. Different type of model I know but this kit only cost around £50 and took the best part of three months to finish. I find it incredible that there are these talented people out there creating these fantastic models. I'm not a gamer but enjoy printing and painting this kind of thing. The only problem I have is finding these great models for the obvious reason they don't want to be named. I think more and more people will go down the printing route as prices for printers drop. I saw a review of one for under $100 the other day. Ok, it's not a 8/12k but would still be able to print small figures which would be perfectly acceptable for table top gaming. Thanks for an interesting video.

I found some of these models once I started digging if you want the links you got to do the same thing. Don’t count on anybody else, just do the work yourself lol. Oh and matstation has some really good bug models also. Dig, and dig some more!

Popular creators get taken down fairly regularly, I bought all bar a couple of the files after watching the early videos so I think what you’ve been doing promotion wise has been double edged sword. Hopely the creator can bounce back in some way.
