Even these began to fade away. To put this in perspective, the last pivotal cavalry charge I'm human history was in 1898, during the Franco-Prussian war, the war many historians argue was the cause of the alliance system that created the first world war. Why was that cavalry charge the last? Because the nature of modern firearms made cavalry charges costly and easily shattered. A trained infantry unit during the Franco-Prussian war could easily take out a third of a cavalry charge in a single volley of rifle fire, and that's excluding any automatic weapons like a vickers. That shatters morale. There was a reason why so many nations were investing in automatic weapons. They fuck up mass charges in general.
