That is exactly what bothers me with the new games, after a respawn you had some time to breath because it took some time to get back to the fighting area, or you could try sneaking around distracting by taking a enemy flag and than defend that position with your squad. also the narrowing down of the classes is annoying because who can do what isfeels so random, a medic with an AP mine? what the...

@@Tank23333 Seriously. I felt it not only relied on team work, but also allowed for a a number of different scenarios and it gave you a chance to orient yourself when you respawned. I liked that BF2 had specialized classes to suit each players style.....man I wish this game was still around, or at least something like it. I miss the days you could sneak in and be tactical in addition to going in guns blazing.

The commander portion only worked if you had a good commander, which was 10% of the case. It's not necessary and didn't bring anything good to the game, hence its gone. Deal with it you nostalgia glasses wearing regressive apes.

"Remastered." Yeah you clearly haven't seen both the sales and overall gameplay of "Dark Souls Remastered" to see just how much of a failure it is. Can be done very well but even those guys failed horribly.

The game will keep on living as long as the modding community is still active. Heck even DOOM 1993 is still kicking in 2018 with tons of new mods every year.

That's probably because it was more a case of the Desert Combat BF1942 mod team creating BF2 rather than DICE (or EA).

The funny thing is making a decent game for these big companies is not hard at all. All they have to do is look back in history and set what gameplay mechanics worked

If only - but not really. I mean it in all honesty and I have played quite a few hours of both BF3, BF4 and BF1 and I still miss BF2. I even still play BF2 because I think the game is actually superior to its successors. BF1942 was a fantastic milestone for the genre, BF Vietnam was an interesting successor that held many promisses but eventually was just too bugged and never really delivered on it's promises. The best thing to have come out of BF Vietnam was the modding scene and IMO the mod Point of Existence. A mod that must have heavily inspired the development of BF2. The BF2 brough about so many fantastic changes and innovations to the game and managed to still balance it with the core of cooperation in previous BF titles. Since the introduction of BF3 the game has been in a steady decline. The pampering for a broader audience and a more "casual" playerbase has completely undermined what Battlefield was prior to BF3. I've been a fan of and have played Battlefield since the days of the BF1942 demo back in 2002 and I don't like that EA/DICE today consider the series to have begun at BF3. It's a betrayal of it's core foundation and the veterans of their playerbase. Luckily (!) I might add, it seems like BFV is gonna correct this to some degree and it'll be interesting if this release will finally make me pension the BF2 and fully migrate to a new title. We'll see. Oh yes! The only things I hated about it were grenade spam and clunky connection, otherwise it was so good. Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 were great but didn't capture the same warfare feel. Little things like reloading with bullets in magazine resulted in losing these bullets, factions having their own weapons, exhaustion where you can't run forever, vehicle drivers not repairing their own vehicles just made it so much better.

Nope, it's actually freaking better in terms of mechanics, movement , gameplay, "LESS IS MORE" doctrine and everything else, we had a lot of fun with this game because it wasn't like a call of duty, how cant you notice the movement in BF 3 - 4- etc ? everybody is a COD super soldier, it freaking sucks, and the map design is usually shitty as fuck, maps in Battlefield 2 felt bigger. BFBC2 was good but it lacked a lot of content, this had more vehicles, bigger maps and more maps. WTF are you talking about.

Maxx I think thats why metroid prime aged so well, 60fps are just something that you cannot show in trailers but appreciate when playing it by yourself.

There are more people playing Bf2 online each day than there are playing Bf3 on PC online each day. And before Revive shut down, there was way more people playing Bf2 each day. Bf2 is the best game in the series, and the last one made before EA bought DICE. Maybe there's a correlation, there.

David true, I was playing when the revive shouted down in September 2017~ , there were around 1000 online that time. Even more than in bf2bc and hardline… I really think that if the gamespy servers wouldn't shut down in 2013, the online in bf2 would be even more than in bf3… considering that this game is free, and runs on all PCs. And even though the game is 2005 , I have more fun playing it, than some kind of shit like bf1... Let's hope, that some day, there will be battlefield good as bf2.

@@elcore3203 The daily Revive Battlefield 2 player number was even higher, from what I saw: Around to 1,500 and growing in the later days of Revive.

@@David-ob2gn Im not talking about total daily online, im talking about online in a certain moment. The maximum daily online i saw was 8000~, something like that. I was talking about 1000 people playing at the same time. I would even play sometimes now btw, but sadly there is only one infantry server atm, and it is Karkand 24/7, i think i will have a headache after 3-4 hours of the same map.

Joint ops is a hidden gem. Few will remember it because it was a game before its time. It was battlefield before battlefield. I liked it for its realism and large open maps. A sniper could one shot you from a mile away. Most bullets took one or two shots to kill you. No medpacks, you were either alive or dead, rarely in between. However back when Joint Ops came out people were not used to or aware of such large scale games, and high bandwidth internet was no so widely available so the game never reached it full potential. Not a lot of people played it. I still have the game in my steam account and play it for nostalgia.

BF4 was the peak of Battlefield. Even though the game had a rough start (mainly because it was unfinished). But after 2 months, the game was beautiful. Still is!
