Meet the war-fighters of the future. Correspondent Tom Costello goes inside Space Force, the newest branch of the U.S. Military, gaining exclusive access to the classified, nuclear-hardened facilities where Space Force operates America’s constellation of satellites in Earth orbit - now threatened by hostile, armed Russian and Chinese spacecraft. “Battlefield Space,” an exclusive NBC News documentary examining what the Pentagon says is likely the next conflict zone.

So they are decades behind the US. In 1985, the US using an ASM-135 ASAT anti-satellite missile launched from an F-15 fighter aircraft, shot down its Solwind scientific satellite at an altitude of 1,820,866 feet. In 2008, an American SM-3 naval anti-missile destroyed the USA-193 military satellite at an altitude of 810,367 feet. Also, if you pay close attention, you will know a few of the weapons America has in space. The day Trump said N.Korea destroyed the Mountian, They tested Nukes in with TNT. An earthquake that registered 6.4 was detected under a Mountian next to it. That was the real Mountian they tested their nukes at. The day Iran shot down that commercial plane they thought was a US bomber, two earthquakes that registered 4.3 and 4.1 in the same location, the second one was registered a mile deeper (15 minutes later). Those earthquakes were just a few miles away from the entrance of the Mountian they hid a nuclear reactor and their centrifuges to enrich uranium under. This video overlooks the fact Space X can lift payloads at 8% of the price that NASA can. www.bing.com/videos/search?q=project+thor+weapons+system&docid=608056185815174121&mid=1B00FF6820697DBB97661B00FF6820697DBB9766&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

The moment we (USA and our allies) start building the launch capability to match our adversaries in space, we better be prepared to spend a lot more on NASA and USSF than the paltry sums we have allocated in the Defense budget, so far. We must expand our horizons out there, to build off world research and other capabilities. We can't turn back to ignoring Space any more, like we did after Apollo.

Aye. Here is what they didn't show us the other side of a coin. The director of NASA claimed that China's aerospace industry has stolen a lot of NASA's advanced technology for decades. Does this mean that there are a large number of Chinese spies lurking among NASA's employees that need to be reviewed? When the NASA has its own independent space station, NASA is qualified to come out and brag! Otherwise, NASA is not even qualified to brag! Due to the Russian withdrawal from the International Space Station, the International Space Station is about to be abandoned. On the one hand, the NASA begged China to let the NASA join the Chinese space station, and on the other hand, it said that China stole NASA technology. This is very schizophrenic! Because of the Wolf Amendment in the United States, Once NASA cooperates with China, we are worried that NASA will be accused of treason by the US government, we cannot allow NASA to commit a crime, so we have repeatedly rejected NASA's application to join the Chinese space station. In addition, Russia will cooperate with China to build a large lunar base. -CaiLei

China haven't invade any county in 40 years compared to democratic nation that always in war. On the other hand, "Americans have been invading other countries since before America was a thing, as early as 1741, when the North American battleground for the War of Austrian Succession was called King George’s War - one of the French and Indian Wars. That’s a lot of wars. According to Kelly and Laycock’s book, the United States has invaded or fought in 84 of the 193 countries recognized by the United Nations and has been militarily involved with 191 of 193 - a staggering 98 percent." "When America wants to go to war with someone, we invent the reasons."

The best way to prevent conflict in space is for US, Russia, China, India, Korea, Japan, etc to have such robust and prolific private, commercial and government enterprises and programs for exploration, industry, mining, sensing, communications in LEO, cislunar space and on the lunar surface and orbit that any risk to those assets from collateral damage of military conflict in space would be more costly than the potential strategic gains. The policy of mutually assured destruction that has prevented nuclear warfare on Earth, in space the risk is Kessler syndrome and losing priceless economic assets.

I was raised within ten miles of the Kennedy Space Center throughout the 1960s. Many of my neighbor's fathers and mothers worked for NASA or were civilian contractors of the space program. Most of my classmates and I never imagined a time when space exploration would be anything other than competitive innovation with the Russians and other people whose idea of governmental control of others was reprehensible. Times have changed, but the arrogance of adversarial political philosophy has not. The Moon is ours. We must defend it at all costs. To not defend our position on the Moon, and from there on space itself, is tantamount to capitulation to our adversaries.

@@BobbyHickey Our space faring history is written in the epitaphs of Gus Grissom and his colleagues, and in the billions of dollars we spent on innovation and sacrifice of other needs in order to reach the Moon and beyond first. Even in outer space, cooperation with totalitarians inevitably fails; they always have other agendas. For example, look at Russia and the ISS or China'a quest to dependently build a military base on the far side of the moon that we can not observe. They are publically pledged to destroy us, just like the Russians are currently destroying Ukraine. Yes, sadly, it does come down to this. That conundrum is how life works.

In the 1970's the U.S. already initiated the "Space Force" to fight the "Star Wars." I read that U.S. made large satellites that can carry and able to fire 10 or more nuclear war heads to different parts of Earth mainly the USSR and China when a hot war breaks out. The Apollo Project was mainly a military initiative to kick start the "SPACE FORCE." It was a military project to build a Moon Station able to house systems that can deliver nuclear bombs down to Earth in specific enemy locations ! That was during the "Cold War" period. I read this in a prophecy magazine science section.

Not necessarily. When you expose certain capabilities, just the knowledge that such capabilities exists can act as a deterrent towards acts of aggression from the enemy.

The film 'Don't Look Up' was a very clever satire on how the media, government and the public all behave when an existential threat is there in front of them... well above them. People like to deny and lie in order to win. When winning isn't even going to help you. I found a lot of people didn't understand the film though. either that or they didn't like the finger being pointed at how stupid they are

The exploration of space and the race to the moon yielded military benefits, most of which have proven to be politically stabilizing: We know the quantity of Russian assets and they know ours. The era we're now in (thanks, Russia) is the weaponization of space.

Very informative condensed news video about the US Space Force... However, I agree with the interviewed US Congressman. The US, via the US Space Force, needs to build offensive capabilities and have a more offensive than defensive policy, as the adversaries of the US and the West (i.e. China and Russia) do not care about International Laws, past mutual agreements and yesterday's hand shakes. China and Russia will do what's best for them no matter what that means to the rest of the world (since its their plan to subjugate the world anyway in a new world order that they control). Therefore, the US and the West must prepare for a confrontation in all capabilities and measures. The use of space in a war is not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when".
