This is a compilation of clips from my BB-62 drydock tour today (Sunday).
Quite a bit of background noise since the worksite was active with workers power washing the hull.
I recommend the tour if you are able to do it.
Hats off to the Battleship New Jersey staff who were courteous and knowledgeable.

I greatfully appreciate you posting this. Even if I lived close, this old man would never be able to walk around it like you did. Even with the video, it is easy to appreciate the size of this iconic ship. Thanks again.

Nothing prepared me for her sheer size when I visited her in the early 2000’s. USS New Jersey is well worth the visit if you can make it and have the means. I would love to visit all the Iowa class battleships.

The New Jersey and her sister ships are impressive as hell when in the water but out of the water she becomes even more amazing and awesome looking in my opinion because out of the water and on the blocks you truly get a better idea of how massive she actually is.

Took the tour, it was worth it. One thing to note, the walk down into the drydock was easier than the walk up.

Interesting video. You just can't understand the enormous size of these ships until you see them from this viewpoint. And I thought I was lucky when I got to walk under the belly of a 747 jumbo jet. I wish I could've been there.

Many thanks for the video. I would have loved to be there but France is too far away to attend easily. What a beast. So glad people take good care of it. Elegant lines despites such a massive presence. Beautiful.

Great video! Not many people get the experience. Gives me a flashback to 40 years ago when my sub was in a drydock in San Diego. I actually remember being on a WestPac with the New Jersey back in the 80's too. She's a beauty, and I am glad that they are giving her some much needed TLC.

Nice video. I'm disappointed because apparently they don't let the people any further under the hull than the first row of blocks. I expected them to take people under the hull to see one of the large openings to the sea chests. When I was working under the Jersey in '87, the only place I could stand up to stretch my back, was in one of the openings to the sea chest.

Too bad, too far forward to see the opening of the inlet to the sea chest and how they blanked it over.

@@ytlas3 There's like 130 sea chests, all blanked over. You can see plenty of them.

Ok, what I meant was the four sea chests that feed the four main condensers. They're recessed into the hull and I believe they were at least 4 foot in diameter. Thanks

I still think a modern dreadnought or battleship design would be better. Can a old battleship defend against a hypersonic missle? Or drone attacks?. I don't think these ships would last very long in any battle of the future. These war ships should be protected because they are a part of history and that's about it.

Sorry you didn't like the footage. I purposely didn't directly film the tour guide because it's not my place to step on the toes of BB-62 staff. They didn't hire me to document the tour, it was for my personnel entertainment. Besides, if I give it all away no one will take the tour. They need our support. Thanks for watching.
