Poor Helo...always having to be the Humanity in Humans and standing up for what's right even when nobody believes him. Wish I had such strength in my convictions. Thanks guys again for another fun reaction.

OK, some context to this odd episode. This is the one remaining trace of an abandoned subplot involving the Saggitarons. Originally, they were supposed to play a big part in Baltar's trial, but when it came time to actually write the finale, nobody liked it. So all of the buildup in the previous episodes was edited out, but this episode remains because without that element, the episode is 2 minutes long. Thus the Saggitarons appear from nowhere and disappear right back.

Mikey's not wrong. Part of the reason they boxed number 3 was because interest in the final 5 isn't allowed.

I've recently learned that a lot of people hate this episode. And frankly, I don't get it. Yes, it's barely connected to anything else because it sets up a subplot they dropped, but I find the conflict very compelling. It's easily the most interesting Helo ever is in the entire show, because he gets to be a character beyond his relationship with Sharon

Hi guys! I agree that it is great to have a 'Helo episode'. This character simply deserves it and frankly speaking this subject suits his personality very well. I thought about it and he seems a natural in this part - partially an outsider who often seems alienated and never "a part of the team" because of his isolation on Caprica, unusual relationship with Athena the Cylon and lack of experience with the occupation of New Caprica. The last one almost ironic considering the first season of the series. Helo is above else a good guy who tries to be a good guy whenever dealing with difficult situations, which test his humanity. He might be like the Holden of this series. Prejudice. I have to slightly disagree that it is unrealistic to see pre-apocalypse prejudice disappearing because there are so few people left alive. Not because of the small population - that would be a factor in combating prejudice for certain. After all one of the most important factors why people hate other people as a group is ignorance, so with so few people left alive it is hard to see other humans as total stangers deserving contempt and hatred. I thing that in this situation the factor which explains why Sagittarians are hated is the occupation of the New Caprica. Occupation is a very traumatic, very divisive subject, especially if the occupiers were dividing the occupied population into various groups - there is always someone who is seen as those who 'got easier, more lenient treatment'. As we see the Sagittarians were in general avoding violence so also fighting against the occupiers, which is a reason good enough for many people. Unfair reason of course, but just enough for prejudice to last or... even to reappear. Zarek. I think it is interesting to have him feeling responsibility for the people as community. I think his experience with radicals and during the occupation makes the points he makes rather reasonable. Take care!

Despite common consensus, this is one of my favourite episodes. That Helo once more is the morally AND technically right person yet isn't boring or intolerable. Helo brings the human frailties of doubt and anger into the equation. Tamoh Penikett. Love him. The key to this episode is a subtle one, Head Gaius sums it up with "...to be human, you have to think only of yourself." The civilian doctor in the episode is the epitome of this. His individual hatred overriding the need for humanity as a whole to survive. Like so many of the 'filler' episodes that get used as vehicles to question morality in general, we're asked to account for the flaw in humanity. That we ARE all unique, that we ALL make choices individually that could easily work against our society as a whole. We're also asked to confront that the individuals who are capable of hatred, selfishness, even murder, are the *same* people who will form tight bonds with their fellows, will heal (other) strangers, and will fight for good causes. Humans. Are. Flawed. Wonderful as always gents.

This is the only episode of the series I would call true filler, which I define as an episode that doesn't significantly advance either story or character. A good episode for sure, but plot wise nothing of real significance. Character wise, we learn that Helo is a good guy who will always do the right thing, but we already knew that about him. I really enjoy Caprica a lot, but it has a *much* different vibe than BSG, which put a lot of people off back when it first aired. So, yeah, I personally would recommend it, but with the caveat that if you're expecting it to be like Battlestar, you'll be left confused/disappointed. However, I do like r shower pace and how the show builds and ramps up towards the end and LOVE the expanded world building we get for Caprica and the other colonies. If you watch it, save it for after completing BSG.

GET TO THE FRAKKKN END GAME, GOTS !%##$%. That was my response to the this string of bottle episodes. Damn you, Network Execs. Before thinking about Caprica you still have to decide if and where to watch...Blood and Chrome, Razor and The Plan. I can't recall if Blood and Chrome or the The Plan give away any spoilers for the second half of Season 4. Maybe your Patreon can answer that question. If they say no spoilers then I would consider maybe watching Blood and Chrome and The Plan in between Season 4 and Season 4.5? And Razor after Season 3 and the start of the season 4. Or maybe it's just better to just go with broadcast order as they all were originally released??? Fat lot of help I'm being here. Caprica is kind of a successful fail. It falls into the same camp as Stargate Universe. Slow to start. Got interesting. Then very interesting. Then truncated into something very short once the bad news came down that it was being cancelled. Had both series been allowed to grow and breathe I think they would have fit perfectly into cannon for the universe they were written If you're at all curious how the Toasters came into being, you should watch it. But more than half of BSG fandom refuse to accept it as Cannon and would probably say let your imagination run free. I enjoyed both series. In a perfect universe I would like to see you react to them both. But the universe is not perfect. I've just written for several minutes and I don't think I said a damn thing. That's a shame.

Tribalism and enclaves are a fundamental aspect of human nature. You could do that on Racial basis, Religion basis, Culture basis, Anything and everything people use to Group separate and segregate. Triage to ration resources is one thing, euthanasia is another.

Unfortunately, you guys in in a stretch of a few episodes that are some of my least favorite in the series. They aren't *bad*, but are the kind of filler/character episodes that don't drive the overall story arc forward. But the last few episodes of the season really will start to ramp up, and the very end of season 3 is one of my favorites in the entire series. ...also, after almost 3 full seasons, I have come to the conclusion that Joe is wrong about pretty much everything. ;)

This was a failed start of a major storyline. It was supposed to be a commentary on the AIDS epidemic. The mother avocating for her gay son. Why so many characters seem phobic. There is also a line from Zark forshadowing a fleet civil war.
