What could have been. I liked the episode, and it was no more or less goofier than the Turtles, Toxic Crusaders or Biker Mice from Mars at the time.

If the show came out ten to twenty years sooner it would have been a huge hit.

I'm glad I never got to see this as a kid, otherwise I would have been incredibly disappointed. Seems like someone didn't understand the assignment to rip off the Ninja Turtles. It's like someone saw one episode and decided "stupid slapstick" was what the audience liked the most.

I an only speak for myself, as someone who is a fan of the video games, but I think I can see why this show didn't get picked up. After watching the pilot, I didn't really like the feel of it. This came out in 1992. Shows like Darkwing Duck were already out and looked much better. Ninja Turtles had been out for loner and it was a much better cartoon as well. On that note, as a video games, Battletoads feels more original. I associate the brand more with grueling difficulty that stands on its own. As a cartoon, it feels so much less original. Wise-cracking, teenage mutant green animals had already been done before with the Ninja Turtles. It just feels like a rip-off. I wouldn't see this as a safe-investment because I feel that kids wouldn't be interested in seeing the same thing as the Ninja Turtles, just done slightly different. And I would be right. The show didn't get picked up because it got low ratings.

Yeah, such a wack cartoon pilot, based on a game. To be fair, however, it's a better watch than Bubsy. At least in this short, we saw our fave toads do their actual roles from those games in it, instead of just talk, not any fighting scenes, at all.

This show is so much like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (though the pilot for the proposed Battletoads cartoon came first) hence the fact that it has some of the same crew and some of the voice actors (esp. Ian James Corlette) did this show and AoStH later. Wish they should've made this cartoon more dark and gritty and use the theme song from the original game, it would've been great.
