To be fair to Arcus, this was only his 6th run. It just takes a while to get everything down. His Kirbys Adventure video from a few months back was the same. Lots of mistakes, not sure what to do with certain bosses, dying. It just takes time. I just think its awesome that we get to see Arcus grow as a player in games hes not familiar with.

WR on Ninja Gaiden, the presumed hardest game, but seeing Arcus run Battletoads and failing in segments gives me hope to beat it and to see him improve!
@HowlingMoonCinemas3 жыл бұрын
@Danny Chaos But Ninja Gaiden was always fairly easy to beat as long as you kept that cool swirl-slash weapon. Battletoads however, that game if played without taking any warps and without trying to cut any corners... is HARD AS F***. Even many people who used the Game Genie or save states now still can't beat it. Definitely one of the hardest NES games made.
@dannychaos32813 жыл бұрын
@@HowlingMoonCinemas nah, respect only mate. I've heard both games listed in the top ten hardest games ever -- Battletoads obviously being higher than Ninja Gaiden. I did not mean to take anything away from Arcus' accomplishment, in either game. I, myself had only grown up with a Mega Drive (I'm Australian, so a Genesis if that's easier on you) and have only gotten Battletoads from Rare Replay. For me it does take a lot of practice, patience and skill for both games, admittedly Ninja Gaiden looks easier, having no access to play it, but, I remain hopeful in beating Battletoads, seeing an Idyllic Speedrunner struggle where I cannot fathom at present 😊.

I wasn't surprised that most of the run time was spent in the Terra Tubes. That level is a nightmare. Then again, everyone has that one level in the game that breaks them - for me, it was the Rat Race. Took me YEARS to get that third segment down.

Ghosts N Goblins says hello - it's way way harder. Battletoads is not hard it's just pattern recognition and memorization. Of cause you insta die to new patterns but once you have practiced them all, the game very beatable. Apart from clinger winger on emulator. You need a frame perfect emulator for that stage because any lag just means you can't beat the stage. Works mostly well on console though.
@TStef643 жыл бұрын
@@the8thark Yeah, no it isn't. Yes, GnG gets very hard towards the end and luck also plays a factor. But infinite continue's make it beatable for most people with some patience even if they suck. That's why guys like AVGN and SomecallmeJohnny could beat Ghosts 'n Goblins but can't get anywhere in Battleoads. Battletoads does become beatable eventually and even easy if you put in all the practice and basically have the whole game embedded into your muscle memory, but this process takes way way longer than getting through Ghosts 'n Goblins for just about anyone.
