Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed the video! As a quick mention, we recently put the extra playmats from the Kickstarter we did a few months ago up on our merch store. There are a few of these playmats available and we will be selling these extras while supplies last. If you're interested, they can be found here: bit.ly/casually-cedh-playmats

Good catch! When playing these budget decks we ran into a lot of cards we haven't really played with before and that was apparently one of them. I don't think anyone really realized that that was a symmetrical effect. Luckily, I don't think it affected too much in terms of the outcome. The Torch Courier dies soon afterwards, so the main difference there is that Adam would have had 1 extra creature at the end and 1 less card in hand from the Yawgmoth activations and the Mishra's Factory would be alive but that also wouldn't have changed too much either
@charlesmaillho367

Kiki did not need to attack because the combat phase had already passed. However, the torch courier not attacking could have affected the game. I don't understand why Joseph wouldn't block with Winota at 14:40. He blocks and kills neheb as opposed to giving Jordan 2 free mana. Things like this really confuse me on this channel because usually only Joseph or Jordan win the games so interactions like this make me think they are helping each other get the win.

Winota is an amazing budget commander and tbh is super undervalued. I built her once and disassembled her due to people complaining about being one shot. Recently reassembled her for SAMURAI TRIBAL. Its been working amazingly well and has great flavor cards as well, Spirits, Goblins, and Kirins being most of the low drops and samurai and other kamigawa cards being the human drops. I know, I know, im a genius, and I’ll take responsibility for that.

LOL I had to stop bringing my really well tuned hyper agro winota deck to my LGS because people would refuse to play against me because of the threat of getting knocked out too early... on of my favorite combo is cheating an Auratouched Mage and tutor Breath of Fury, while having cards like Loyal Apprentice to generate the tokens... eventually I had to tune it down for random pods. :( However I'm not a big fan of the path Joseph took in his build... I would go much more agro than that lol Really fun commander indeed !

@@TheSmartCinema its a shame people hate to play against her because tbh (in my experience) she’s way easier to deal with in 4 man pods but 1v1 i think she could even take out Edgar Markov with ease. Its just that if you play how she requires you to in a 4 man pod you’re gonna have to target someone which i feel does kinda suck for them and is a bit unfortunate for both of yall.

Enjoying the channel a lot. Respectful advice for Adam as I am a Yawgmoth player-I’ve found that pursuing the proliferate line early game is almost always incorrect. My goal is to cycle through my deck as fast as possible and fill up my hand so I can find 2 undying creatures, 1 undying + nest, Pitiless Plunderer and a pinger. The added benefit is putting counters all over your opponents’ creatures. I only fall back on the proliferate line if it is a certain win-I.e. you have a massive grip and tons of mana from Ghast, Coffers, Cabal Stronghold etc.

@@Hitzel A) it's better than seeing the same strategy win time and time again. If someone has a great hand and great subsequent draws and manages a turn 3 win that's not thoracle...great. B) blue is not the only color with some form of counter magic. RE blast, withering boon, dawn charm, etc are all counterspells that don't see much use in a competitive setting but can probably fit the bill in slightly "lesser" competitive gameplay. C) interaction does not always mean counter magic anyway. RMR (run more removal) is something more players need to do anyway. If thoracle is not the looming wincon in every game then players can branch out and up their arsenal with more single target removal and other answers BESIDES simply trying to stax out the game. There's plenty of other strats that many people just don't go with because it's not THE most efficient way to win...although still competitive :/

How come Joseph didn't use giver of runes to give torch courier pro black when yawgmoth targeted it? It wouldn't have saved the touch courier, but it would have made it so the giver of runes was likely to not die to yawgmoth unless he wanted to sac a more valuable card.

Personally, I am a big fan of Edric for players newer to the format. He's fairly simple to get started on (the playstyle is fairly striaghtforward), can be built on a very tight budget, no matter what, you're always drawing cards, and it can be scaled to be more control-based once you get more comfortable with assessing cEDH threats. I've always found it to be a great deck to start cEDH on personally

@Tyler Frost the fact that you pay 3 mana to put a counter on it for a start. The fact that green often lacks haste which means you gotta w8 a turn before you can tap him. You can use proliferate stuff for him of course to quicken it. But without a godly starting hand I dont find him that good. Turn 3 win is a bit of an exaggeration don't you think?

As a player, it's probably fun as hell to resolve the same combo over and over again and keep putting that same combo in different shells so you can see if you can still get to it (and with thoracle that is proving to be not hard at all). As a viewer it starts to become old hat and extremely unsatisfying especially knowing there are so many other viable strategies that exist but are not getting explored because one above all seems to good to avoid.
