Great Polish band. More Polish black metal like MGŁA, LUX OCCULTA, MARTWA AURA....Batuszka does not mean father but priest (abbe) in the Orthodox religion.

You guys should react to more Batushka. Here's some info about them and I could be wrong about some things. The band was created by Krzysztof Drabikowski, the guitarist you see primarily in the video. The lyrics are sung in a language called Old Church Slavonic, which, if I'm not mistaken, is where all the modern day Slavic languages originated from. Not only that, but their lyrics are liturgies from the Eastern Orthodox Church, hence the monk robes and additional imagery you see in the video. When you read the liturgies, obviously translated, the band modifies them in a way to make it as if it were being sung in the perspective of God. Drabikowski recruited other musicians on the band such as the main vocalist, Bart Krysiuk, the backup vocalists, etc. However, Bart was making music under the Batushka name behind Drabikowski's back. After that, Krysiuk excluded Drabikowski out and locked him out of the official social media outlets Batushka has. Drabikowski then sued Krysiuk. After that shit show, fans were wondering who was the mastermind behind the band because before that, I think, nobody knew who the band members were. In 2019, Drabikowski released the album Panihida and Bart's version of Batushka released the album Hospodi. After the initial listen, many fans determined that Drabikowski was the mastermind behind the band and declared him as the true Batushka. Because of this conundrum, many people have started to create a shit ton of bands under the same name declaring they are the true Batushka. In other words, don't pay attention to the posers. In conclusion, the first album, Litourgiya, is when all the members were still together. Panihida is Drabikowski's album for Batushka while Bart's version, or Bartushka, is Hospodi. Other songs you should check out from the album Litourgiya is Yekteniya 1, 2, and 4. After that, Pesn 1 from Panihida.

You pretty much got it. Krzysztof made a video explaining that he was the founder and creator of the band and explained that Bart had locked him out of all social media and basically stole it from him. Not to mention, the fake Batushka was still able to land a deal with a major label (I think they were dropped right after that album release. Likely because the label either didn’t know what was going on or the backlash).

You are mistaken. Church Slavonic is an artificial language specially made up for orthodox scripts an liturgies. It is based on one of ancient bulgarian dialects, but non of slavs actually ever speak it in real life. It had influence on the already existed slavic languages, but non of them are originated from it.

Sadly they managed to do one solid album. Now there are atleast 3 same named bands, because there was bad blood in band and it was split in 2 atleast one is copied by trolls. I know its confusing. But i love this song/album. Great piece of polish orthodox bm. Greets from Finland.

There are several batushka's songs with subtitles. It's a ironic Black metal, their lyrics are like a catholic mass. I remember that in This song you did they say something like " i believe in forgiveness ( or salvation ) based on true regreat " or something like that. You should try yektenia 1 with subtitles. Eastern Orthodox mass. And clothes are identical to Megaschemolos monks in Eastern Orthodox tradition. Sung in Old Church Slavonic, which is essentially how Slavs sounded a up to 10th century during the period when various Slavic tribes could still understand each other. Today, this language is only used in church services or historical linguistic studies, it's not spoken since the medieval times.
