Baty & Friends III - Baty, Knotty and finally Dopey is born !

Baty nearly threw a tantrum as he's not getting milk from mum while Knotty 's upset again as mum is abandoning him with an aunt again.
Reddy appeared with a newborn - at most a week old - and he would be known to us as Dopey :) soon !

Who knew that Dolly, Gypsy, and Reddy, with their three boys, Baty, Knotty, and Dopey, would initiate so much happiness in our lives! Thank you Mr. M.! ;)

Lesleigh LeLievre Knotty? He has an adorable face for sure but I think little Dopey is the cutest. Knotty is cute & surprisingly happy given that Gypsy hands him off most the time. xo

Those care-aunts do their best to make sure he is loved and tended to. He is so fortunate to have them. They do adore him so. In fact, I see more affection between them and Knotty than a lot of other mothers with their young. Some of them seem to have a rather blase' attitude toward them.

Batty siblings don't seem to want to play very much. Knotts Aunts seem to really enjoy baby setting but he doesn't want to be away from mom, and mom looks so old that she just doesn't want to be bothered very much with him. Thanks again, they are all so cute

The interaction between Batty and Care-Aunt during... 1:25-1:43 Ohhhhh, so precious. You can tell there is a lot of adoration there on both parts. So funny seeing Knotty being clumsy like Dopey. So, he did have his day too, huh? I love looking back to when they were tiny, compared to where they are now, how much they've grown, how much they've learned. ( I'm viewing this around the time our new Dark haired baby is born)

Poor baby...at 03:45 he runs to play and jump on (his aunty?) the female that is trying to get his attention and he wants so badly to suckle from her...it is just a natural thing when they are with a female that they are very comfortable and close to and happy with to start to do this...when they are younger it is more spontaneous and as they get just a bit older as he is then they are able to stop and think about it. Then at 09:29 a female comes up and calls him to her while he is at mom's? breast and he jumps happily toward her and he actually starts to go for her nipple for a moment when he gets to her chest...but then stops himself again I have seen little ones even do this with their human caregivers in different situation. There once was a tiny baby gorilla that was being hand reared at a facility I worked at and he constantly tried to suckle from his caregivers even up past a year old...any time they first picked him up, snuggled with him or if they were playing with him and then if he leaned in for close contact his mouth would seem to just automatically go to the breast of who was holding him without him even thinking about it at first. (I have seen other species do it as well..especially tiny baby baboons but the gorilla was the one that seemed to need and want to the most and for the longest period of time...poor babies)

The baby at 03:45 is Baty - as his mum is trying to wean him off ( a bit early I think ) so I think he's just taken his chance on other nipples there ! The baby at 09:29 is Knotty and he knows the rules with his absentee mum and only suckles when she says yes !

Precious moments @ 1:25-1:45 I get the impression Knotty's Mom just doesn't want the burden of being a Mom. He's going to have adjustment issues later on if she's not involved more. God Bless the little Miracles called baby's & infants. Look over & protect these innocent Angels & their Mom's.

I am not sure if you have ever watched the video about the golden monkeys but it is an hour long documentary about the two little males that were born at the same time in a troop and how one mom dotes on her little one and the other mom hardly takes care of her little one. She is so bad that he actually only survives due to the other females in the troop allowing him to suckle from them. He is passed around constantly to all family members including the father/alpha male... which is unusual. He pretty much half raises himself as mom ends up taking off with another troop and leaving him there with the others of their troop. Anyways it discusses how an infant primate that is abandoned or neglected or abused like that will either have some issues as they grow socially or, like that old saying goes, what doesnt kill us makes us stronger and that some actually thrive and become stronger and better despite if not due to being abandoned and not cared for by mom! So maybe he will go that route here too and do well despite it.

I think all the babies are cute and precious but knottys my favorite. I wish he had a good loving mother. Thank God for his aunt's and it may sound mean but I pray the Lord doesn't let Gypsy ever have another baby to abuse. I think the aunt's would make great mother's.

Awwww. it looked as if he was trying to love on her and she just didn't want any part of it. I would be his mom and love him and give him hugs on top of hugs! I guess I didn't see or interpret what a few others got out of the same clip but I'm not an expert at Monkey behavior.

I laughed at 9.12 when the adult grabbed the monkeys big lug (ear) as a means of restraining him in case danger was near. I guess you grab what you can! Poor kid, at this rate, by the time he's due for weaning he's gonna look like Dumbo. I don't think the likelihood of pinning them back is high either (I've heard that insurance is high) lol

Pinnaplasty is not really difficult and is usually free on NHS in the UK.

Lesleigh LeLievre 😂😂 Its a pity he wasn't born female. If he was they would happily take chunks out of the poor mites lugs (contraception). Some of the older women have next to no ears left.

should call him hoppy cause every time he tries to run it turns into a little hop!! have you seen this mother again but without the baby?? is that why you think the little guy didnt make it?? like have you seen this mom again with no babu with her ?

Knotty is still around - I've seen him a week or so again only very briefly though. He must be fed regularly by his mum but not the properly motherly attentions he really needs.

this is how sad this is... when that poor little baby DOES actually get Close to mom or in front of her... he foesnt even TRY to nurse... almost like he has no idea how cause he was never allowed.... like has no idea the nipples are even there.... and the one or two tomes he actually gets a hold of it he doesnt seem to know that anything comes out... he just kinda grabs it than let's it go like it's useless to him... poor lottle guy!! I hate seeing mom monkeys ignore and push their sweet little babies away!! NO TREATS FOR THAT MOM ARROZ!! this is one time I will say that a monkey doesnt deserve it!! she would probably get it and run leaving her baby behind ..

He must be somewhat aware where his food comes from as he is more than a day or two old and Mum's nipples look as though they've been thoroughly sucked upon. He also went straight to her chest for comfort. Although he is just playing with her nipples I'd assume that is more for comfort than food. Wouldn't he be weak and have no energy if he hadn't fed since his birth?

That's what I was thinking... he can't be too old but it's weird not to see him at least try to use it... almost like he is used to getting pushed off so he won't even bother.... like when they wean the little ones they will slowly go I for the nipple knowing full well they will get smacked off... he kind of seems weird about it... which is strange in itself.... poor little guy must be used to being ignored by mom

Agreed, I am sure that he gets plenty of breast milk as baby macaques suckle way more than for just nutrition. The majority of the time that you see them at their mothers breast they are suckling for comfort and out of habit rather than for nutrition and require much less milk at his age than what it seems they usually get when you think about how often they are at moms breast. I would bet that when he is really hungry mom allows him to suckle but that at all other times he is not allowed to just for fun and is probably already aware of that even at his age.

I agree. He's been getting plenty of nourishment from somewhere. This is just 20 minutes out of their day. I noticed with all of the mothers, after about 4 weeks, they get really insistent on letting baby know when it is ok, or not ok to nurse. They have subtle cues we might not can even notice. Mom is the boss!
