I love how they are talking to you. They're either saying hello ole friend, or ya got any goodies for me mister? Or, maybe they just wanna get under your umbrella with you. Lol! That's a handsome male that came up on the table. And, in case you didn't already know, you are part of their troop. They love you & consider you one of their leaders. They follow you wherever you go & some stay back with you while the others rush to what they think might be goodies. They even turn around as if they are saying, "come on mister were getting goodies! Let's go!"

Poor Knotty, he's still timid. But a slight slap from Bossy's daughter had Baty apologizing and crying for mercy, lol. It seems the babies in this group give a little sideways kick when they leave. Like a foot tap of "See ya later". I'm pretty sure I've seen all of them do it. If there's no one to tap it's just a little kick or wave of a hind leg. These precious babies are constantly amusing and the close up shots of their faces has me glued to the screen.

I really love Bossys face, the way she looks like, ok, ok, what're you lookin' at? I can't get over how much her eldest daughter looks like her, another lovable Bossy face!

I see that Bossy still misses her youngest child. It take time for the heart to heal when you lose a family member. My mom died a few years ago and I still miss her lots.

Knotty's little kick of the leg before he ran to the fence must of been his way of thanking Bossy's daughter! I love their coos too, but Baty's screech nearly deafened me! I won't wear my headphones next time. It's sad realizing that Knotty's lot in life will be like that of his mother. At least until he leaves the troop. Looking at Bossy on the fence alone gave me a pain in my heart. Poor mother. I think she still misses Junior. 😟

Well Becky, the good thing is that Knotty can definitely improve his situation as an adult, as you noted. When he leaves the troop it'll be like a reset button. And I firmly believe that the trials he's faced in his young life are making him stronger and more independent, which will serve him well in the long run. He will have a much easier time breaking off from the troop and leaving his mother than Dopey will, that's for sure.

GozerTheGozerian That's encouraging and I know you're probably right. I just hate seeing him timid because of the way he's been treated, though. But he is certainly a little toughie and will no doubt get along fine. (:

Hi Arroz - Please, when Gypsy has her next baby (unfortunately for the baby), study that baby's relationship with Gypsy as I wonder if she treats all her babies like Knotty - maybe because he is male is there a difference in raising him - it will be interesting and sad to see. Thanks for all your hard and sometimes rewarding work.

In the little man's defense (and trust me, I don't like seeing him bully Knotty), he did look miserable. I know what it's like to have a beard on a damp, humid day, but I can't fathom constantly wearing the equivalent of a head-to-toe fur coat. God help us if macaques ever figure out that we can control temperature and humidity in the strange brick and glass boxes we live in.

Of course he try's to bully poor Knotty. I was hoping he was going to slap the spit out of Dopey's mouth, but I think Lil Dopey out ranks him which is why he did not.

I thought to show respect or fear, monkeys smile like Baty did when Bossy's daughter stepped in but poor little Knotty just frowns - his poor little mouth is stuck in the frown position - i guess from all the abuse from Gypsy. Poor little Knotty!

jen ica I noticed that, too. It's really sad, and I don't think Knotty expected it from one of his peers. He's such a sweet little mite and ever so cute. He's got plenty of fur on his head now that he 's mostly weaned.

Yup, I think we're seeing shock and confusion registering on Knotty's face, as he comes to the realization that "Baty my friend and play buddy" is now becoming "Batty, who can pick on me because he's higher ranking." Learning how to properly show deference definitely falls under the list of social skills a rhesus monkey learns from his troop. Maybe we're anthropomorphizing, I don't know, although I'm sure this is what Arroz was getting at in the introductory text when he points out that the babies inherit their mothers' status. So far we've seen the blissful ignorance of babyhood, when none of the babies understood or cared about rank, they just wanted to play and have fun. Now Knotty's going to have to learn more hard lessons. But as always, I hope he becomes stronger for it.

jen ica .. i love knotty the most.. its so pity to have gypsy as a morher..knotty suffered a lot.. but i believe time heals all wounds.. he will be brave agaisnt all odds

Hi all - Knotty is my favorite, too, so I was concerned that he had died - it would have broken my heart so bad that I would have stopped watching - well, I think so - it will be interesting to see how Gypsy treats her next baby.

I can't help but feel sorry for Bossy. Her daughter did a good job of stepping in. Just a nudge to let him know to knock it off. LOL I think the rain was annoying Baty & he took it out on Knotty. Cute video. Thank you Arroz.

I totaly agree with what is being said about the LTM BUT why bring it here ?. Arroz was probably the original Monkey channel and still the best. Monkeys shown with understanding and a LOT of knowledge and sympathy. If you do not like what is going on in the Cambodian LTM channels then do not watch and comment because that is what they want you to do. If you do not support them then they will realise something is going wrong. Right, back to this brilliant video, Arroz I see that B7 is Bossy`s older daughter is there a younger daughter that can now be in charge of the troop on the demise of Bossy ?. Thank you

Louise Kurtz Thanks Louise! (: It does look kind of wet. And Baty does have quite a bit of fur. Meanwhile Dopey looks neat as a pin. Reddy must have groomed him recently. Or crazy Aunty!
