Saw Bauhaus (1919 then) for the first time in December 1978 (their very first gig, despite what wiki says). That was at Nene College Park Campus. Think The Pretenders were top billing that night. Even though it was early doors for Bauhaus as far as their career went they still had a magical quality about them, something that was different. Murphy using a torch in the dark recesses of the room to light his face up. They'd already written Bela and Dark Entries then from what I remember and the energy they created with little equipment was palpable. Great to have been there watching the birth of something special.

I saw Bauhaus perform at Larry's Hideaway around 1982. It was the best live show I had ever seen...I have seen a lot of bands. My boyfriend and I had a glass of wine with Peter after the show. He was very nice and quiet the gentleman. He was very theatrical and a little violent on stage...very opposite. The guitar player wasn't very friendly. My hair at the time was very similar to his. I had a feeling he thought I was copying him. Lol...I worked at a hair salon. I had zero idea what he looked like before going to the show. I just ignored him

@Gary Numans Silly Wig think you need to find out your facts before you comment on anything as for Siouxsie She was an original Pistols fan / original Punk when there was only about 10 existed they travelled to Paris for Pistols gig in 1976 & were good friends when they formed the Banshees for a one off gig with Sid Vicious =drums / Marco(Ants) = guitar etc when they formed properly 1977 they were an amazing band first I saw them was 1978 age 13(my 1st ever gig) & as for Killing Joke they have always been dark since 1979 they were formed by Jaz & Paul from a Ritual they did together I first saw them live Febuary 1980 in London supporting Joy Division & have seen them over 300 times since my fave band from that gig but your right about Japan they were lumped in with the new romantic scene & they just turned a pop band

well reading your reply you seem more confused about Everything than Scooby doo you obviously don't understand a thing about what Killing Joke are about & you also say they are not musically competent you couldn't be more wrong if you tried ffs Geordie is one of the best guitar players in the world your be hard pressed to find some one that can play like him he's a amazing & Jaz is a classically trained violinist & pianist has conducted every major orchestra in the world composes classical music Youth is one of the biggest record producers in the world has done every one inc bands like Pink Floyd / Paul McCartney as well as dance etc & as for Joy Division they did not sell a lot they got bigger after they split up & vw beetles are great cars & as for punk you don't even understand anything about that ffs your comments are pathetic about everything & 100% wrong etc can I ask what music / bands you are into now this should be funny to see your reply

I don't think "goth" was in popular use at the time, I remember them getting described as punk at the time. They didn't call themselves goth , but neither did Sisters Of Mercy, Banshees, Fields Of The Nephilim, etc, etc. It was a label that got applied to bands whether they liked it or not!
