Excellent video. You could setup a few stacking baths that allows the heavy particulates to sink and you bring the top layer of water from the first to the second. You can do this to as many baths as you need. There is also a bell siphon in hydroponic systems that maintain a level without need to top off so often.

Great ideas but bell siphons usually drain the whole tank but a float siphon... That's definitely an idea. I do like your "Settling tank" idea. I suppose that mostly depends on the cost and procedure involved with using and changing his filters as to weather it would be worth it or not... I do like his very compact solution all on one stand... Very cool. 😎👍

I have been following your machine build progress for a long time (many years, big fan of your work) - this latest iteration is awesome! A couple things - I am not seeing any feeder and or branch circuit overcurrent protection for the Mean Well AC/DC PSUs, the Teco VFD input, or the SSR controlled pumps. I recognize that you are connecting to an AC outlet with an upstream breaker/fuse, but the machine itself should have a main protection device for the feeder circuit. Maybe these are in another panel! I also don’t see any ground fault protection for your water pumps (but you could be connecting to an outlet with RCCB protection). I would try to selectively coordinate the ground fault protection, assuming this is a grounded system (should be possible with lower sensitivity RCCBs). You could use an RCBO to provide overcurrent and ground fault protection to the entire machine, but not recommended since it becomes difficult to trace down ground faults… There are new-ish RCCB/RCBOs that can “deal” with pulsed current that is relevant to your application. I also recommend having a main isolating switch with a hardwired cable (restrained with a gland) with a locking connector, though I do recognize that you already have installed a disconnecting means. My worry is that it is not a locking connector so it could easily get pulled out by an operator. I recommend adding those protections for code compliance (IEC 60204-1 in your case I believe). Keep up the good work and feel free to reach out if you have other questions about my feedback!

I don't need a wire EDM machine, but watching your videos makes me want one. Can't you just use a third electric valve for the flushing? It might restrict the flow a bit, but the integration into the system should be quite easy.

Outstandng design and execution! Assuming this wire edm could be used to cut custom electrodes for a die sinker EDM - and ooking at the similarities between the two types of tools it appeared one could design a die sinker x-y-z head that would fit on your same design and replace the wire head; {thus making it a convertible Wire / Die Sinker machine}...easier said than done but it would be a killer app. Edit Doh! I just found your Die Sinker youtube - but maybe the convertible thing still applies I haven't watched the video yet

Awesome build! Should the water be filtered, or deionized before filtration? It could be reasoned that the particulates attract and adhere better to the filter when they're still polarized. Conversely, however, it could be also reasoned that the deionization reduces the polarity of the particulates to the water, liberating them for improved capture by the filter.

Love watching this project develop. Do you have any plans to sell the mechanical machine assembly (tank, XY feed, wire system, etc).? A kit could also work, but the 3D printing world has shown that people are happy to pay good money for a machine that's ready to go out of the box.

Very nice progress. Have you considered to use LinuxCNC HAL as a general-purpose PLC for the whole water filtration/drainage automation? As far as I understand, linuxcnc HAL starts before the UI and it is quite easy to add a bunch of logic and timers there to have real-time control of all your pumps and float switches. You can even have all that logic nicely put in to a separate .hal file.
@tjosephpowderly1066
@tjosephpowderly1066 11 ай бұрын
Use lLinuxCNC to _pose_ the tool (wire) to the work, but ise HAL to allow the EDM process to control the tool position . The motion in a single line or arc can be forward or backward between the start and end positions of the line/arc/ . If the process retracts to the begimning of any line/arc, and persists for some time, issue a fail/abort. If the end point of line/arc is arrived, then begin next line/arc or issue finihished. Even sink edm orbiting can be done in hal ( Ive done square and circular ).

Why you don't use after exhaust valve cyclone filter to make pre-cleaning of distilled water? I think after cyclone you can set just one filter and it's will be cheaper then now.

To remove heavy particles before filters, I would recommend a couple of sluice trays to separate the bulk of the solids. You could fake one by using corrugated tubing sloped between EDM drain and water return collection point. Make it easy to exchange or clean out.

I don't think just the pump it self all the reason your seeing so much heat in the system. I mean for a small to medium industrial WEDM machine is is common to see a 25-50k BTU chiller some where in the system. There is a lot of waste heat just from the EDM process it self, but also you have to remember your compressing a gas filled liquid to get the flushing pressure. That is the basic concept of a geothermal heat pump, add in the friction for the flow in the fluid in the lines and you have a lot of excess heat in the system not counting any that is being transferred directly from the pump it self.
