The average America emits about 15 Tons of GHGs into the atmosphere a Year. The Taylor Swift Eras tour emitted over 500,000 Tons of GHGs into the atmosphere in a Year. Not all Humans are equal when it comes to causing Climate Chaos.

same reason John Locke, when he wrote the constitutions for the Carolinas, made it illegal to have a contract with native Indians - why? They don't "improve" the land and thus are not "sovereigns" - camping year-round on your own land is the same as being "houseless" but "homeless."

Oh my goodness… if I had this professor in college I wouldn’t have earned 3 college degrees! He is very hard to listen to for just a few minutes…I can’t imagine trying to listen to his lectures…unless he is just nervous for being on TV? I respect him for his knowledge but he should find more exciting ways to convey his message so people will be motivated to learn more. Sorry Professor…

Seriously I’m surprised by how little intelligence was conveyed but his monologue. Waste of air. You can summarize what he said to … Rich people bad. Gas bad. Poor people good. Meanwhile he has no solutions on how to transition all industries away from combustion energy. What about everyone that currently owns a non electric vehicle? All wishes, no solutions.

actually when the Westerners committed genocide against Native americans then the forests grow back and the loss of the Aerosol Masking Effect (sulfur particulates from wood fires) cooled the planet a bit. The Little Ice Age is partially attributed to the genocide of Native America. Thanks for asking.

Our bodies were made to be out in the heat. Our ancestors used endurance hunting to run down animal. Most animals can't handle heat as well as us. So our ancestors would jog after a herd of animals till one suffered a heat stroke.

Same temp, same year, though this temperature is also debated for the same reasons as the other one was debunked. Anyway, not only is 1913 AFTER the Industrial Revolution, making your point a bit shallow at best, it was one day. THIS summer as in 2024 has so far been the hottest on average. If you take the temperatures of a bunch of places globally everyday, add them all up, then take the average, this summer is the hottest. The hottest summer before this was last year’s in 2023.

@@st.fiacre6685 hahahahah the milankovich cycle. Never, ever, ever, has that cycle caused not only such a sharp increase in temperature in such a short time but such a sharp increase with obvious links to human activity. What would take that cycle at *least* 1000 years at its fastest, we did in 150. The only similar instances of such speedy changes in temperature were times like when giant volcanoes went off, we got hit with a meteor, or when a species spewed a bunch of oxygen in the air. Even if you want to ignore the mounds of evidence that this is human caused, every other time the global temperature changed really quickly it was accompanied by an extinction event. Why would this time be any different? Why should we not be worried about that?

@@st.fiacre6685 If you put your head in the sand like an Ostrich then suddenly the world doesn't exist! Willful ignorance is bliss indeed. Or you can just googlescholar some stuff. Top science journal Nature reports: "Here we combine observed and reconstructed June-August surface air temperatures to show that 2023 was the warmest Northern Hemisphere extra-tropical summer over the past 2,000 years exceeding the 95% confidence range of natural climate variability by more than 0.5 °C. Comparison of the 2023 June-August warming against the coldest reconstructed summer in ce 536 shows a maximum range of pre-Anthropocene-to-2023 temperatures of 3.93 °C. Although 2023 is consistent with a greenhouse-gases-induced warming trend7 that is amplified by an unfolding El Niño event8, this extreme emphasizes the urgency to implement international agreements for carbon emission reduction. The broiling summer of 2023 was the hottest in the Northern Hemisphere in more than 2,000 years, a new study found. When the temperatures spiked last year, numerous weather agencies said it was the hottest month, summer and year on record. But those records only go back to 1850 at best because it’s based on thermometers. Now scientists can go back to the modern western calendar’s year 1, when the Bible says Jesus of Nazareth walked the Earth, but have found no hotter northern summer than last year’s. A study Tuesday in the journal Nature uses a well-established method and record of more than 10,000 tree rings to calculate summertime temperatures for each year since the year 1. No year came even close to last summer’s high heat, said lead author Jan Esper, a climate geographer at the Gutenberg Research College in Germany. Before humans started pumping heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere by burning coal, oil and natural gas, the hottest year was the year 246, Esper said. That was the beginning of the medieval period of history, when Roman Emperor Philip the Arab fought Germans along the Danube River. Esper’s paper showed that in the Northern Hemisphere, the summer of 2023 was as much as 2.1 degrees Fahrenheit (1.2 degrees Celsius) warmer than the summer of 246. In fact 25 of the last 28 years have been hotter than that early medieval summer, said study co-author Max Torbenson. “That gives us a good idea of how extreme 2023 is,” Esper told The Associated Press.
