In this video we see the "Bay Colony funeral train" when Mass Coastal pulled the Bay Colony engines off the Watuppa for the final time. The BCLR engines have an uncertain future so who knows what will happen with them next. Also after some interesting operations MC-4 ended up with a total of 8 engines leaving New Bedford, MA enroute to Taunton. This video only shows the New Bedford to Myricks part of the day's operations so stay tuned for the part focusing on the Watuppa Line.

I hope that the GP9s get overhauled and repainted and if not then a new owner that will use them. I’m glad Mass Coastal bought the Bay Colony. It’s going to be great to see the line rehabilitated.

Great catch. Heard the horns from my house and thought “hmm wonder if I have time to go catch it.” Well, I don’t, and now I regret that. 8 engines on the same train in NB!!! Awesome rare sight

I'll say this I actually hope they donate the high Hood Geep (the one from your cement plant spur video) to one of the railroad museums because there getting rarer with every year

Great video it is, hope they do keep those engines around, they seem to be in good shape too, hope they're put to good use, I don't think I'd park those engines either I'd find a way to keep em in service.

Use the Bay Colony units "as is", and only change the Bay Colony lettering to that of Mass Coastal. Saves money, and they can be used as D.P.U. s. on the former B.C. right of way while awaiting maintenance on the line itself.

An 8 unit lashup that in actuality is only a 3 unit lashup, just the first 3 units are powered up, the other 5 are shut down and just being dragged around as dead weight, hence why no lights are on those units.

I know this might sound crazy, but I think I hear the reed road train from Old county Rd heading towards the head of Westport 88. I live in Taunton and definitely hear the train going passed my back yard. When I hear it in Westport it's obviously not too loud like taunton, but I can hear it.

Awesome catch. Didn’t take long for the horns, bells and number boards to disappear? Hopefully they get rehabilitated both 1705 and 1706. No 1701?

Great Video, hopefully Mass Coastal keeps them, all 3 locomotives have a bright future. I paid a visit to 1701 the other day, I don’t know what’s going to happen to it, 1701 needs TLC and to be healed from all the damage done to it. She could be fixed up she has the potential to be very tough. so do 1705 and 1706 it’s a good start for Mass Coastal because their trying to expand their business

Doesn’t look good for the Bay Colony power, Mass coastal is pretty much set in power with 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 3815. These will likely end up in Rochester MA or Hyannis and stored, as for 1701 I don’t think anyone knows what’s happening there

@@WesternNewYorkRailfan420 I’m not sure either, idk about 1701 either, it’s taken a lot of abuse over the years from weather and vandals. It’s Mass Coastal’s decision on what their next is. They have gotten more power which is good, it’d be nice if they keep Bay Colony’s remaining locomotives for when they need them someday. Put them in storage, repaint them eventually. 1701, 1705 and 1706 can be very tough and they got a bright future ahead.

I would hazard a guess that MC removed the horns, # boards, etc. before vandals get to them. Moving them quickly mitigates needless damage. The 1701 in Millis is the literal outlier and is in the worst condition of the 3 BC units. Will be interesting to see what happens.......

I think that what they do with the locomotives will probably depend on what condition they’re in. If they’re in good shape, MC might just repaint them into their own livery and keep them so that they don’t have to keep leasing power from LTEX. If they’re in bad shape, they’re probably getting sold.
