Amidst farmlands in the outskirts of Bangalore, small sized kannamangala lake hosts good variety of birds. In video:
1) Baya weaver males building nests, more than half the nests they build are left alone. Nests are either built in practice or are not good enough for the female weaver :p
2) Wire tailed swallow with its chicks, they breed around the monsoon time.
3) Oriental garden lizard, I was hoping I could film it catching ants, but it didn't seem to be in the mood.
4) Common kingfishers excavating earth for a potential nest. This lake has nice muddy slopes along the walking track and islands (thankfully they left it natural and didn't reinforce with concrete), so when water level is low, both the pied and common kingfishers breed, both species are sadly on a strong decline according to the most recent state of Indian birds report.
