Bayer Leverkusen are on the verge of making history. Xabi Alonso’s side currently sit comfortably top of the Bundesliga, and are only a matter of games away from ending Bayern Munich’s stranglehold on German football, that has seen them crowned champions of Germany for each of the last 11 years.
Their journey to this moment has been a turbulent one, full of near misses and agony, but the end of their suffering is in sight, and surely, soon they will finally be German champions. But over 20 years ago, they nearly had it all, but agonisingly fell short when it really mattered.

I know a lot of people call them Neverkusen but it looks like they will finally win the Bundesliga this season. I find it really interesting with the club that they have never won the domestic league yet won a European trophy before that with the UEFA Cup.

I literally watched all the 3 games live. The CL final they lost...the German Pokal cup final...and the match that lost them the league (Yes, I'm a dinosaur😁). I guess this was the beginning of the Michael Ballack curse (a player deserving a video of his own). Brilliant video, as always ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

I fully like Bayer Leverkusen extremely so much daily and ever ever since I was a child,good friends!!!Around the early 2000's when I was a kid,the team nearly won the German Bundesliga which I think they would finally win it this time,good friends!!!LONG LIVES RESPECTIVELY TO BOTH BAYER LEVERKUSEN AND GERMAN FOOTBALL!!!🇩🇪

When stationed over there in the eighties and nineties, I always found it a bit strange that there was two Bundesliga teams owned by the same company Bayer, Leverkusen and Uerdingen in Krefeld, who were also pretty decent at one time. Known as KFC Uerdingen 05 these days, although I think the KFC part is a little unfortunate? Went to watch Bayer Uerdigen a couple of times when Borussia Mönchengladbach were playing too far away.
