Its not just the league position thats impressive, its also the way they play. A very ball dominant attacking football, nothing you would expect from a team that is supposed to fight against relegation. In addition to that, are the 3 games against Leverkusen. 1-1 at home, lost 3-2 in Leverkusen in the 90 minute and draw 2-2 in Leverkusen with the equalizer in the 90+6 minute. It was a great year as a Stuttgart Fan.

There are way more players worth to mention. E.g. Mittelstädt, bought from Hertha for 500k€ is now the leftwing defender for Germany at the EC in Summer, he scored vs. Netherlands after he made a mistake and 0-1 down, 18m shot BOOM Vööööööliiiiig losgelöst. Ito came from 2nd division in Japan a few years ago. Anton came from Hannover 96, 2nd Bundesliga. The stories are endless. A club that played relegation last year, now has the 2nd most players for Germany in the European championship IN Germany. I am a Stuttgart Fan for almost 30 years and I have no word that can fully describe whatever I've witnessed this year. I will probably never find a word for that till my last days. FORZA VfB! 🤍❤

Fun Fact: Sebastian Hoeneß is actually the nephew of Uli Hoeneß who was President of Bayern Munich from 2009 to 2014, before he went to prison for tax evasion. Uli Hoeneß is the sole reason Bayern where able to play at such a high level for the last 15 years because of the winning culture that he established at the club. From 2016 to 2019 he was again President and since then he has been honorary president of Bayern Munich. Greetings from Germany

The problem is Uli Hoeness is no longer helping the club. I cannot express how much this season, as a Stuttgart fan feels as good as possible without winning the league. From the beginning of the season, I could tell we would be a good side, but I felt we had no real chance to win the league. Obviously in this season, we didn't, but to have a title winning point total shows how much better a side we were than I could have possibly hoped or dreamed. Amazing season, UCL next year and it's so deserved. As a side, it's funny in a macabre way how amazing second feels for me aa a Stuttgart fan, and how depressing it feels as a (much bigger) Arsenal fan. Football is quite a sport

What’s going in the bundesliga? Well, German fans have kept mega corporations from owning total majority of clubs, with a couple of exemptions for clubs that were grandfathered in from before the rule existed, so it’s making the league more competitive and have more parody as clubs don’t have as much difference between them in terms of their corporate investors.

I am a Stuttgart fan, from Stuttgart. The thing is, while this is a miracle, and no one thought we'd finish where we actually did, we underperformed a lot in the 2 seasons from 2021-2023. If we'd known how to score goals, then we wouldn't have been in the relegation fight or even in the playoffs last year. We were like 11th in expected points in 21/22 and in 22/23. That's where Sebastian Hoeneß has improved us drastically. We are finally playing - no joke - on our level. We are not overperforming in the table, we are right where we are supposed to be this season. And we are doing that with a great style of football, posession based, not like Union Berlin last year who won a lot of lucky games. The weird thing is, VfB is statistically one of the top 5 clubs in Germany, so us playing in europe is kind of in the DNA of the club. We played in europe almost every year from the 1970s onwards, until the 2010s happened, where we overspent our built up CL money and the club in general was mismanaged on all fronts (imagine it like Newcastle under Mike Ashley) and we even got relegated after over 40 consecutive years in the Bundesliga. So yes, this is a miracle, but for us fans and people in the city it feels more like a return to where we once were and where we feel like we actually belong

Everything Stuttgart has done in 23/24 was nothing short of amazing.... Given they were among the highest wage bills in 22/23 they really really underperformed before they saved themselves... Under Hoenneß

Upsets to qualify for the UCL next season: 1) Aston Villa getting 4th in the PL 2) Girona getting 3rd in La Liga 3) Stuttgart getting 2nd in the Bundesliga 4) Bologna getting top 5 and potentially up to 3rd in the Serie A 5) Brest getting 3rd in Ligue 1 6) Sturm Graz winning the Austrian Bundesliga Upsets to make the UCL qualifiers next season: 1) Twente finishing 3rd in the Eredivisie, their first UCL qualifying campaign since 2011/12, after being relegated in 2017/18, and a guaranteed Europa League group stage spot at least, their first since 2012/13. 2) Either Jagiellonia Bialystok or Slask Wroclaw will win the Ekstraklasa (2 teams who finished immediately above the relegation zone last season) 3) Petrocub Hincesti winning the Moldovan Super Liga (stopping Sheriff from winning their 22nd title in the last 25 seasons)

Leverkusen finished the league unbeaten and stuttgart is second. if you told me that last year, i would have died of laughter. This season of the bundesliga was absurd and i all here for that.

Just about the only season I remember that was even more absurd was 06/07, when Stuttgart won it the last time and Bayern didn't even qualify for the CL in the end. Good times back then. Good times.

I called for Stuttgart to be in the top six battling it out with Frankfurt for 5 and 6. They‘ve been great ever since Hoeneß had taken over. But in no way I thought they‘d be THIS good. It’s not they somehow ended up second, no, they are playing exciting, excellent football. My team, Frankfurt eked in sixth with more or less boring/ shite football. Currently I would rank Leverkusen, Stuttgart and Bayern in the same category and Dortmund and Leipzig a bit behind. All other teams are almost a league away. Partly also because our 2nd league got very strong in the last years.

As a Bayern fan, I'm not even mad. I like that there are multiple threats in the Bundesliga now. Good rivalries make the game more exciting. I just wish my team remembers how to play again because if it's not the UCL, we seem to forget

Lifelong Stuttgart supporter here. This season was unbelievable. Don't want to sound ungrateful, but Leverkusen annoys me for that reason. Without them we would at least have won the cup. But overall this is the best VfB aquad I have ever seen. Even the 2007 Bundesliga winner squad didn't play that well. It's insane. I hope they can somehow keep the momentum high, but as someone supporting this club for more than 20 years now I know it too well that VfB is the perfect example for a club that manages to have very short, very high peaks, but then falls apart. But I just hope for the best.

With the mess that the search for our new coach is right now, I wouldn't bet on it. Leverkusen gonna come back just as strong as they were this year (maybe even a bit stronger thanks to that sweet Champions League money), Leipzig and Dortmund still exist, and hopefully Stuttgart can keep their core together so I wouldn't be surprised if they also break into the top again. It's definitely gonna be an exciting season, that's for sure.
