My mother died on 9/11 and that has made me very interested in Benghazi especially since it happened not only on another 9/11 but on the same day of the week as well (Tuesday). The part showing the four bodies waiting to be transported home breaks me up each time I see it both in sadness for their families and for the fact that I had no body to bury when it came to my mother. I rented the movie several times and finally bought a copy the other day. Remarkable movie!

They requested for back-up multiple times and were denied each and every time. We'll send soldiers to Guatemala to help with a flood, to Michigan to take care of contaminated water and thats all well and good, thats what our military is for. But, we won't send soldiers to help out maybe 15 lightly armed Americans involved in a fire fight? GTFO.

That’s the one thing that really scared me about joining. Killing is easy when you put the outcomes on a seesaw but when a guy that became your brother gets hit in a face with an rpg, or steps on a mine and you only could tell it was him because torso body part still had his name tag but the rest of him was scattered..I’m not strong enough to do what jack saliva did. Even if I was I would force myself not to be! That shit hurt just watching him I can’t imagine what the fuck the real thing felt or looked like!

"We get to go home." I love that. The guys are talking about medals and recognition. Jack sees that the real reward of surviving is seeing your wife and children's faces again. Medals don't matter. Both dead and living men can be honored with medals. Only the living can enjoy the loving embrace of a spouse or a child.
@onebuffalo5402
@onebuffalo5402 Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. The point he was making wasnt necessarily about WANTING recognition. Its more so about the fact that they were burned by the state department and POTUS. they were ghosts who didnt exist and therefore werent going to be given any recognition bc they were place in an illegal CIA base set up by the obama admin under clintons purview. So whiles Jacks point is still valid in the sense of what really matters; their comments about medals was in respect tothe dogshit position they were put in to begin with that will end with none of them having ever existed as far as the US govt is concerned

I don't entirely agree. It's been proven that under Bush post 9/11 the actions in Iraq and Afganistan had such a straign on the terrorist groups that they were unable to launch any major international actions. This changed under Obama who gave them the chance to breath / regroup and restart international terrorist operations, like this one in Libya........

I served in the Marines and a buddy of mine was on a QRF (quick reaction force) team in Germany who's sole purpose was to respond to situations like this. They spent those 13 hours on a tarmac in Germany, geared up and ready to go while their platoon commander fought and argued with some guy from the state department who seemed to just be stalling them so that they couldn't go. The guy kept telling the pilots that they weren't cleared to go, making the Marines change from cammies and civilian attire back and forth, lots of little bullshit things that didn't matter. When they were finally cleared to leave, they got word that the last survivors had just left on a flight and that possibly 4 or 5 people were lost. They went back to the armory, returned all the weapons and optics they'd drawn out, went back to the barracks, turned on the TV and watched the breaking news about the attack that they should've been at to help prevent from going as long as it did.

He was perfect for this movie. He's perfect for any military-type movie. No other director on Earth can match his experience with the military and military hardware. Pretty much all of his movies contain military elements and it all feels real. Hell, most of the time, it IS real (real hardware, real soldiers). Exactly because he has such strong connection with the military.

Oh, I see where this is going. I can just delete your comments here, since it's my video, but I'll give you a shot. Tell me, in this particular case, with the attack depicted in 13 Hours, how can you spin things in order to support your opinion? How can you defend the attackers? No one from the American citizens on the ground that night provoked in any way these attackers. It was a full-blown terror attack. So don't try to blame America again. People like you will blame America for everything. You will probably blame America for the poor taste of your coffee in the morning. No one says the US foreign policy is perfect, but to act as if US is to blame for every single thing in the world is just ridiculous. I hope you realize that.

That's gotta hurt SO much. Imagine having a best friend who you would have by your side in combat, that got a call from his wife saying that they have a new born. Your friend then tells you, this is his last deployment before he goes back home. All the joyness of an infant, all the amazingness. Until, bad things happen, shots get fired and explosions happen. You get hurt on the floor and get unconcious, you wake up to know whats going on, You then think about family and close friends, you look straight to see a body, words fill your mind hoping that it isnt your best friend, you check on the body to find a pulse, nothing... You think about him, thinking about him not coming home to see his infant, his newborn baby. The pain hits you...

Bub and Jack never got to speak to each other at the Annex before the mortars hit but Bay created a scene where they had an exchange. (I didn't have a problem with this because it may have given Jack some solace because he expressed some grief over it.) These and other variances from the book are minor to me.

@@thewateversho223gaming Zimmer did the score for Bay's "Pearl Harbor". The score was nominated for a Golden Globe. And the truth is, Zimmer was involved - in one way or another - with most of Bay's movies. He wrote the main theme for "The Rock", he was an additional composer on "Armageddon" , "Transformers 2" and "Transformers 4". He was supposed to do "13 Hours" as well, but he couldn't do it because of his schedule. So he recommended Lorne.

God Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe's score is fucking amazing, as was the movie, i expected Bay to go full bonanza-AMERICA FUCK YEAH in this movie, but he paid so much respect to the soldiers involved and the events that took place, that it didn't feel as propaganda film making(unless you wanna take it that far, to which generally all war films come down to, for their respective countries honestly), it felt more in line with Lone Survivor or even Black Hawk Down, the action was brutal and realistic(the most violent Bay movie for sure, i will never get that High-calliber turret ripping 3 dudes in half out of my head, CGI or practical and there's a lot of practical effects here on display, it was great, terrific stunt work, hell even the usually fireworkey explosions have weight and impact here), just a great movie overall, the cast performed wonderfully and the ending was sad and tragic( fucking government tho, they're like police in most action films, always show up just late enough to save lives -_-) my fav Bay movie after The Rock, solid 9/10. and frankly on second watch, i kinda teared up at this part.

In the book, Marcus talks about how Murphy was yelling his name after he made the phone call. Also, that he was still fighting after making the phone call. Marcus was also crying, with his hands over his ears. I would loved to see that in the movie. It just would have made all of us super sad and depressed.

Set during the war in Afghanistan, the film dramatizes the unsuccessful United States Navy SEALs counter-insurgent mission Operation Red Wings, during which a four-man SEAL reconnaissance and surveillance team was tasked to track down Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Written and directed by Peter Berg, Lone Survivor stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, and Eric Bana.

I was living in benghazi at the time this attack happened. For the most part its very accurate. I wish the libyans arrived sooner but there was so much chaos on the ground that you werent able to tell who was friendly and who wasnt. One thing micheal bay nailed was the fact there was no American support, until this day I dont know why they did not send any help towards these guys. Up until the moment they left they were only being assisted by libyans, who were also confused because a small faction had broken off the friendlys and joined afghan and extremist groups who had infiltrated and were responsible for the attack in the first place.

I come back to this scene a lot, this is honestly one of my favorite movies because it shows Michael Bay isn't all flash. The "All the Gods, all the heavens, all the hells are within you" line is originally from a book by Joseph Campbell I believe, "The power of myth", I've read a bit of it, I love it, and I feel like it has good relation to this story and a lot of war stories too, I would definitely recommend as a read, its pretty short too. The "Still no Americans" part also hits really hard, not for any personal reason, but it shows that these guys went through hell and back, and despite the fact that America has committed numerous war crimes, when it comes to helping friendly soldiers and not starting a war, they won't break the "ROE" because of the "ethics" or "not wanting to start an international incident" even though Benghazi was already essentially a failed state. These men deserved so much more recognition, and Michael Bay did really well with this movie in my opinion because most people are used to a ton of fuckin explosions and all the shit going down, yeah he did that in this movie, but that's what those guys went through, and he shared a story that almost no one else had heard of. Just a quick rant, love you all.

Saw the movie in a theater originally. Was shaking when it had ended and I was walking out. Powerful movie which carries many messages. Those who have been in combat will understand. The worse part was that it was an avoidable situation, but allowed to become a spike in our hearts by the mishandling of our leadership. When someone famously said "At this point, what difference does it make!", she dismissed the cost of death upon the men and women present, and the terrible path their families embarked on when they were lied to. God be merciful to the families of the dead and the injured from that nightmare.

Fuckin hell John is an amazing actor. In The Office u see «glimps» at his ability to really show raw emotions. This scenes was so fuckin real. Great movie!

I’m really grateful I saw this. For years I thought Michael Bay was a bad Director! It was only when I saw this that I realised he does actually have talent! Very few directors can create this level of emotion, and Michael Bay was one of them.

As a military veteran, I took voluntary retirement after 20 years. I related to this movie very well, sometimes you just have to cut the embilical cord. When you see your brothers die, and you get that inner feeling and you realise it's time to go home for good.
