This khutbah was recorded at the Bayyinah Foundation Musalla on Oct. 27, 2017.
In the Quran, Allah uses two words to refer to anger: ghaydh and ghadab. While ghaydh describes rage that is brewing inside the heart, ghadab means anger that lashes out, unrestrained. Allah teaches us that in some cases anger can be overwhelming and justified. In Surah Al-Fath, revealed after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) signed the Treaty of Hudaybiyah, his companions refused to obey him at first. However, they did so calmly at a moment of extreme frustration. Yet Allah does not reprimand them; on the contrary He praises them for their restraint. In one hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) compares anger to a lump of burning coal that scorches all the goodness we have in our hearts. It is a disease that, if uncontained, will take away our peace of mind. We must never let anger overtake us because it is the work of shaytan.

I am literally tearing up while watching this I have a strong relationship with my mum, she is literally like my best friend Which I sometimes see as a disadvantage because we tend to fight And sometimes I can’t control my anger and I say things that I don’t actually mean and I always feel a huge amount of guilt afterwards This helped me May God forgive all our sins and make us closer to the people we love

When my dad used to get angry, he used to take it all on me. Verbally and physically. I am 16 now and yet this continues. I feel as if nothing will make him happy. I hope that allah makes life easy for me and make me understand why this is happenings

HI KAWSAR, I am so sorry that you're going through this. I pray that Allah heals your situation and protects you from harm physically, mentally or verbally. I was going through really tough time almost every day, month to month, and I felt depressed. Two very dear people told me to read Baqarah every single day and shaytaan will not come near the person/place that baqarah is read upon. If you cannot read it, please listen to it everyday. Inshallah Allah will help you with your concerns.

سبحان الله me too. I have major anger issues to the point where i was even going to seek for professional help. I always seek Allah’s help and Alhamduli’Allah i feel peace but i wanted something more to keep me calm or help with it. But after watching this video, all i need to do is contain myself and keep being patient and always do Istighfar and Dua’a. May Allah bless and forgive us all🙏🏻.

Mashallah. He is a truly blessed. I have major issues with anger. My Mom and few my siblings have done me and wife wrong. I have forgiving them. But sometimes, I lose control and lash out. I feel horrible after and promise to keep my cool. It doesn’t always work. I know it Is wrong and I pray to Allah to help me keep my anger hidden. JAK.

@Robert Kelly, I've seen your other comments on how you believe we Muslims are close minded and how Islam is just a joke. A truly close minded person would persist on a primitive opinion without any closure on the religion and with any luck, you will find that trait familiar for it applies to you. Now how can I come to the conclusion that you have no closure on Islam? Because there is no discrepancy between science and the Quran. Take the signs of the end for example. Granted, this is not science but what was said in the Quran 1400 years ago is manifest in todays society. Take the Prophet (SAW) said that we would wear instruments on our heads. Who would have understood what that meant 1400 years ago and yet it has became true today! If it does not sound familiar to you than let me shed some light: headphones, earphones. Also, the Prophet (SAW) said that barefoot Bedouins in Dubai will be competing for the tallest tower and what do you see today? The tallest building in the world is in Dubai: Burj Khalifa and many other buildings. Also, the Prophet said that women will move in ways that will seduce men, and today there is a very disguising movement: twerking, and other forms of movement. Indeed there are many more signs of the end. Now you might reply with: "Why would these be signs of the end anyway?" I'll tell you. Because at this point, the world will be so corrupted that the righteous people cannot revert the evil ones. You might now be asking, "why are you telling me this junk if you can't change the 'evil'?" Well, yes I said the righteous people will not be able to revert the evil ones, you could become a righteous one before that time. You could ask me all the questions that you could muster and I, or any Muslim could answer you till you're speechless! You could ask, "why would God end it all in the first place?" "Why would God make us his slaves?" "Why would he create such imperfections?" These are all questions that I could answer if you seek knowledge.... but now, all I can do is advise you to at least learn more about this religion before you make haste to judge it.

As a child I was furious and I still look for my stepfather every day to say how sorry I am, as a child you have no choice my anger has passed, but the pain will always remain. Upto 9th standard my heart was so pure..no jealousy no envy no aversion..nothing it was crystal clear. Thrn many people in my life wronged including my parents..Too much injustice and i suffered alot..No one was there to help me.So i started living a life of anger.I had this idea that oneday i will take my revenge and i bear witness it burned all the good things in my heart.

I have continuosly been criticised by my loved ones mainly bcz i belong to a different school of thought n i shud probably be listening to the teachers of my own community. Ustadh's words literally pushes me to coming back to knowing a little more of our quran from him again n again. Ive never experienced this before!

What an amazing khutba. Omg it comes in so timely. Just about our everyday life we encounter people who purposely 'step our toes' people who live with us yet become the worst enemies that we just cant wait to get away far far from their torture or miseries caused, people who live as our extended familiy and oppress us making us not wanting to see even their face ever again. The terrible feeling....May Allah Protect us Ameen. Thank you Ustadh for raising such matters as awareness and reminders... before we loose the atom of goodness we might have in our heart.

Our issues are nothing like the sahaba's may Allah be pleased with them. They had a RIGHT to be angry. Most often we have no right to be angry and to lash out. Sigh. May Allah AWJ make us patient and calm and kathimin gayth

How beautiful and clear his explanation is! I can hear it over and over. I had anger issue . But now alhamdulillah i learned to control them. Though sometimes it comes out. This lecture will definitely help me to control my anger.

Assalamualaikum iam a great fan of Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan he's just amazing & after listening to him we would have no doubts but still I think he didn't talked much about friends so I have a doubt about "it is said that don't make friends who have bad habits" but I think that it is the pretty good way to make them good or make them do good . Jazakallahukhair for every lecture it plays a big role in my life jazakallahukhair especially Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan may Allah fulfill every dua'a of you
