B.B.King is maybe the most influential guitarist to ever live. Players from every genre from country to death metal have called him one of there major influences

BLUES TALES: In the winter of 1949, musician B.B.King played at a dance hall in Twist, Arkansas. In order to heat the hall, a barrel half-filled with kerosene was lit, a fairly common practice at the time. During a performance, two men began to fight, knocking over the burning barrel and sending burning fuel across the floor. The hall burst into flames, and the building was evacuated. Once outside, King realized that he had left his guitar inside so he went back into the burning building to retrieve his beloved $30 Gibson guitar. Two men died in the fire, and King learned the next day that they had been fighting over a woman named Lucille. King subsequently named that first guitar "Lucille", as well as every guitar he has owned since, as a reminder never again to do something as stupid as run into a burning building or fight over women! Rest in peace, Riley Jackson aka B.B. KING

You haven't lived until you've watched B.B. King restring his guitar mid-song because a string snapped, and he doesn't even miss a beat.... just keeps on singing from the soul while he restrings the guitar like it's nothing. The man is, hands down, my favorite artist of all time. He's the reason I love the blues, and he's the reason I started writing poetry. My favorite song of his, ever, is 'How Blue Can You Get.' Just an incredibly soulful man.

I was sitting in a truck, working at a car rental place.....they usually have xm radio. I always used to throw on bluesville, and as I'm sitting there an announcer came on and made the statement, that B.B. had died, followed by this song. I remember how much it angered me, to find out how little the world gave a f***. Miss you man, still got my vinyl collection of you to bring me peace.

Jimi Hendrix started out playing backup guitar on the "Chitlin' Circuit," which is the common term for the major Blues joints in the deep South and Chicago. One of Jimmi's early solo performances, he tried to copy BB King's licks and tone in front of a crowd of hardcore Blues fans. A young Jimi Hendrix was laughed and booed off stage. There was only one Jimi Hendrix and he was a legend, but that night...he learned that there is only one BB King.

Had the privilege to have seen BB live back in the 90s along with a few others. There has always and still a debate about blues, Howlin Wolf once said: Blues ain't nothing but a good man feeling bad. I am only 45 and got into blues when I was a kid when I first heard Robert Johnson and been in it ever since. One guy that is underrated you should check out is Jeff Healey and the song he did "As the years go Passing by" you will be surprised how great he was to be a blind boy.

The most human tone. BB King was worshipped by all us rock guitarists from the 60s on. He finally got the recognition he deserved. More emotion in a few notes than an entire rock album. I was first listening to Jimi Hendrix, my Dad brought a BB King album home. "Son, you need to listen this"

B.B. King has always been, the most wonderful gem in American music! I unfortunately never had the blessing of meeting him! However, I did get the rare, and most wonderful chance to meet, and share an unexpected cigarette break with Chubby Checker at the P.G. County fair! I will never forget that moment, I was waiting for my date, she was running late. I was sitting at a picnic table, when a gentleman came out of a door, and down the stairs, he said hello, and I stumbled over my speech, finally saying "You, Your Chubby Checker"! He replied, yes, and reached out his hand to shake mine, and asked who are you, I replied I'm Joe, Joe Cartagirone! Pleasure to meet you sir! That's when he asked if I had another cigarette. We talked about his music, and how much it meant to me, as well as everyone, we talked about my date, and how she was running late, and he told me, right before he had to go "Well, if she's worth waiting for, don't worry she'll show", and sure enough she did, seconds later. He was just the greatest guy, and I will never forget meeting him.
