Tuned into BBC English Language Station on Medium Wave 1413KHz. Used Tecsun AN-48X Antenna for outstanding reception indoors in Bengaluru. The Active Loop element I hung it on the glass window. Although there is no antenna jack for Medium Wave on the D-808 i used the provided ferrite rod using the coupling method, placing it parallel to the internal ferrite core. This station continues playing BBC in English to 11:30pm IST and switches to Pushto after. Very Precise tuning option using the amplifier connected in series to the loop antenna. I am yet to explore the rest of the MW spectrum to discover far off stations.

BBC is available on MW 1413 kHz in Western India only. It is relayed via Oman and Sri Lanka. Listeners in other parts of India can get BBC on SW frequencies without antenna extention.

Where do you get these antennae and loops? I'm from Mangalore and while I don't have problems with BBC in MW, I want to listen to more far-off SW stations. This antenna is unavailable on Amazon.

I have The same Radio, but I listen to The BBC every night on Web Radio with my Yamaha WXC50- why use 1920s technology?There are so many better solutions available now

You are right, but whenever there is a Civil Disturbance in India, the authorities tend to shut down internet. And BBC lately has been a thorn from authorities perspective. Plus Genz look at it like an antique marvel. So like to educate folks who want to know.

@@FrequencyCrawler Not lately, BBC had always been a headache for Indian govt even during Indira Gandhi' s time. BBC news doesn't include any news from UK, except in rarest of rare occasions change in govt or when the news very good for UK. But it includes all the negative news from other countries tampered to create tension in international situation. And most biased are their "Documentaries" deliberately produced with malicious intention.

@@user-lh6rm7yx1c Sorry ! But I heard AM Dxing is Popular in Russia. You get stations from Europe as well. I would love to be in your place. You can make a passive loop antenna yourself cheaply from everyday materials and works as good as this one.
