BBC News 24 coverage of Air France Concorde crash on BBC One

From Tuesday 25th July 2000. A rare example back then of BBC One joining BBC News 24 for the breaking news. This shows part of the coverage prior to 6pm, with Jane Hill and Matthew Amroliwala before the Six o'clock News as normal with Huw Edwards. Also includes a revised schedule menu slide and the very start of the Nine o'clock News with Michael Buerk.

@@tommcglone2867 Concorde, Air France and BA had no involvement in 9/11 but I agree that air transit did change significantly after both this and 9/11

I read that The Wild Thornberry's was being shown on BBC 1 (as part of CBBC of course) when they interrupted the programme for the breaking news. Is this true?

No. The Wild Thornberrys wasn't on that day.

I think CBBC moved to BBC2, I recall Michael Underwood talking about 'the situation in America' when going to Newsround. CITV moved to ITV2 as per the ticker on their main channel.

I seem to remember that the balloon appeared at the end of a programme on CBBC to introduce the newsflash. Then, after the newsflash, it went back to CBBC. Mind you, I thought the newsflash was presented by either Peter Sissons or Michael Buerk in the BBC1 news studio, not News 24, so my memory could be entirely wrong. However, I'm not convinced that this video shows the initial news flash. I think that this might be a later special program on BBC1 and News24, but I could be entirely wrong.

@Jack crawford Yes, that was definitely 9/11. I was watching a film on Ch4 in the afternoon & they interrupted it with a 9/11 newsflash. Newsflash are scary, for some reason.
