This is a short film I made for the BBC News Channel as part of their coverage of the Young Citizen Awards 2017. It's about a young man called Mohamad Khalil who now lives in Leeds. He fled Syria with his family after being shot in the leg when his school came under attack. He now helps to support his sick parents, earns money for the family and volunteers as a mentor at school for new children from troubled backgrounds.
