And thanks to KZfaq, we have tons of videos to view any time we want! But I totally get what you are saying, though. She's not here but will always be in our hearts. I miss her terribly, too. I can't seem to get used to King Charles being head of the Monarchy. I just keep viewing all of these documentaries of Queen Elizabeth, lol.

The Royal watchers are creeps and the Queen probably despises them for their selfishness and greed. She must get tired of seeing the same obsessive mugs in the front row when she wants to meet as many people as possible. Julia McCarthy-Fox is a particularly horrible person, I mean how selfish not to allow young children to be at the front, who have never seen her before and can't see over the crowd given their size, when she has seen the Queen hundreds of times. It is merely a game for her, she didn't even look that interested in seeing the Queen, she merely enjoys the game of getting there and seeking out a spot before others. Probably because her life is pretty boring and average so this gives her meaning.

She is the epitome of what a Head of State should be. We in the United States would not be in this precarious position and our democracy would not be in jeopardy if HM were our Head of State...the irony of the break-away democracy in trouble while the monarchy of origin remains a more stable democracy is stunning. THAT is the value and purpose of the monarchy. The institution of the monarchy prevents a "Trump-like" autocrat from seizing power as he is NOT the head of State. 44:15 Seen the Queen 500 times? Followed her all over the world? In normal circumstances, that would be considered "stalking". It's kind of sad to see a person have nothing else to do but follow another person all over the planet simply because they hold a title that magically makes them "different". With all due respect to the Queen, she is just another human being. She's not a magical unicorn that craps out rainbows and sprinkles.

Interesting point the young mother made when the Queen was visiting the community centre in Brighton. The funds can be found to tart up the area when a royal visit is on the cards, and the funds will have come local council coffers and not the civil list. If the Queen wishes to involve herself at grass roots level then she should witness it as it is not a glorified version.

@itsrobm8
@itsrobm8 3 жыл бұрын
It's a little complicated really, as the Queen surrenders all income gained from the Crown Estate each year to the Government (about £400 million), and the Royal Family's "wage" is set at 25% of the money the Queen hands over to the Government (plus their own private incomes as some of them have other private businesses - but she/they pay tax on that), meaning that the people/the Government actually gain a yearly profit from the Queen. So by putting some money into her state activities, it is (sort of potentially) enabling her to do her "job" and thereby in turn helping the country earn money from the Crown Estate. It might sound a little long winded, but it's not as bad as simply throwing money at the Royal Family as a lot of people assume is happening. Still, that doesn't excuse why they can't find the funds to do important local stuff, I agree.

@@itsrobm8 It such a lie that the royal family bring in more than they take out. It comes from the idea that tourists come to visit the queen. In reality they come to see the palaces, it's a very minute chance you will catch a glimpse of the queen. France, whom got rid of their monarchy 200 years ago is the number 1 tourist destination in Europe. No they cost us a fortune in security, upkeep and lost revenue from the 2 duchies. It keep rising at staggering amounts, tax cost alone, not including costs to local councils who bare a massive percentage, has risen from 32.4 million in 2012 to 69.4 million in 2020. The income from the duchies or lancaster and cornwall, just a portion of the land the royal family took from the nation goes directly to the royal family. I have no problem with having a royal family, I like the Queen, but they should use their vast wealth to fund themselves entirely, especially as millions of families struggle to make ends meet.

How do they know who is who when they pick interesting people ? Does one man just randomly pick 100 ppl then line them up with a note on how he'll remember who is who when he guides the queen downto say hello? It must be random i.e. they'd spend hours shouting peoples names out to locate them or they'd ask ppl to send in a photo so they can recognise them so the whole " I've been asking to Present you " must be tosh coz he then asks who they are and what they do. And it good the cost is paid for out the money the gvt gives the queen. In my last council tx bill there was a leaflet that said I personally had paid £110 to foreign aid and £627 to the police and fire brigade out of my £1700 a year council taxbill that I had no say over so going on that I don't have a problem with 66p to the queen a year I'd rather pay the queen than foreign aid thanks
@mscott3918
@mscott3918 3 жыл бұрын
Quite often the organisation that the people are representing will ask if they can be presented to The Queen. It isn't really random. The 66 pence per person quoted is an accounting figure, just to give an idea of what the monarchy costs. In reality the monarchy doesn't cost the taxpayers anything. That's because the Sovereign Grant, which replaced the civil list, is from the income of the private crown estate. The total income is passed to the government which gives her about 15% and the Treasury keeps the balance. Last year that was £320 million. We have the only self funded head of state who pays the taxpayers. Just think that Air Force 1 alone costs the American taxpayers over 100 million dollars a year.

Not really. Diana's influence is very overestimated. The Queen was doing things like this years ago. Her Majesty has been quietly and discreetly modernising the monarchy since the 1960s really. Diana was just better at publicity. For instance, the London Lighthouse that Diana was so involved with actually existed because of the involvement of Princess Margaret. She helped provide funds and was visiting the people there quite a few years before Diana arrived to lay on hands.

Denise G-Hill actually going to deprived areas was Charles idea, when he started The Prince's Trust in the 70s there were awful riots going on and Charles wanted to visit those areas and see them as they were and ask the people what he could do to help,so charles was the first, he was also the first to go into prisons because he wanted to help them too, so it was going on before Diana married into the family, Princess Margaret was also the first to be involved with AIDS and Princess Anne spoke about AIDS. and she visited Africa as patron of Save the Children long Diana married into the family, Diana hijacked things and made them her ideas politicians had photos taken holding babies back then, because it was good for their image and that's what Diana did too, very manipulative and she made deals with the press Diana's legacy is the royal rota and other changes the press can no longer do

@@lsmith9249 Great comment. Prince Charles has now helped more than 5 million young people get a decent start in life through The Prince's Trust and other initiatives. Princess Margaret personally put money into the Lighthouse and The Queen quietly gives thousands to charities every year. The difference is that they don't tip the press off every time they do something. For them it's enough to do good without having to be seen to do it. Diana wanted to be seen as the only member of the Royal Family who actually cared about people. In fact she cared mostly about her image. Her ex private secretary tells how she decided that one Christmas she wanted to visit Mother Teresa in India. The team in India didn't want her there and suggested that, if she really wanted to help, she could visit their alcohol rehabilitation centre in South London. They didn't get their visit. All Diana had wanted was publicity whilst the rest of the Royal Family were at Sandringham. I so wish that so many people weren't taken in by the fairy tales of the blonde princess. History will, with the benefit of distance, see her as an interesting person, but in the long term as important as Caroline of Brunswick.

@@mscott3918 l agree, Princess Margaret isnt given enough credit actually, she was the first to be involved with AIDS and when the NSPCC where struggling to find a place to hold a fundraising event, she let them use her home and Diana would cancel many things, and yes l think she will fade as yime goes on Alexandra was an icon and Margaret was too

@@gordygibson8776 One simple part is: Whether you support them or not, if we got rid of them they would keep their £400 million per year instead of giving it to the Government and we'd actually lose out money, like I said, their wage is 25% of the yearly money they give to the government based on their personally owned lands. They'd actually become much richer if they were no longer duty-bound to hand over their yearly profits.
