BBC Two Snooker breakdown 26 April 2019

A power cut at the Crucible meant a loss of snooker for viewers at around 11.10am, and was eventually replaced with an edition of perennial favourite Coast. Announcers are Phil Vowels and Dean Lydiate. The snooker returned at 11.26am

It's because of the re-encoding KZfaq does. It's much more legible on TV.

MY EYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS - I mean, I'm glad it's not fluorescent yellow, but white - really? Like you said, it masks the logo too!

Good old Phil vowels. Hasn't he been doing bbc continuity for about 25 years? He was also on an episode of ready steady cook.

The technical difficulties slide just seems so bare and boring, I can only assume the reason for the lacklustre slide is because of BBC Two's new 'psychedelic' ident package. It leaves me with one question: If the idents are so cool and colourful, what about the breakdown slide? The jazzy music (which seems to be the only bloody piece of music that the BBC plays in a breakdown now as it happens seemingly very rarely anyway) helps but why the boring slide? It's like something serious has happened (more serious than not being able to watch the snooker anyway 😉) . Have they just not been able to create a new slide or something, surely there could have been something better than this slide. Would it really have been that bad to use the old slide from the previous ident package, would it? What do you think? P.s. Don't ask why I'm so interested and het up about this, I'm just curious.

They recently changed the breakdown slide by adding a still of one of their idents next to the fault message.

@@yobelkcip I know, the one I've seen has a live version of one of their idents. Still, did they just not have a slide ready or something though? At least it's done now though. I just miss the old idents, but I do like some of the new ones however. I like ITV's approach to idents though, especially the sign language ident.

the breakdown slide kinda reminds me of the olden days of channel 4, when they used white on nearly everything.

You're talking about the 2000s Channel 4. When the channel started in the early 80s, it was all black.
