Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present the first live episode of this year’s spectacular series. The celebrities have had two weeks to rehearse their first routine and tonight the 15 couples perform live. They are dancing to impress the viewers and our fabulous four judges, new judge Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas.
Celebrities take to the dance floor to perform a dazzling display of ballroom routines.

Oti was ambitious she wanted to move on from Strictly she won the glitter Ball trophy 🏆 twice in 2019 2020 been runner up with Danny Mac she achieved what she wanted on strictly as a professional dancer.

Andy Yu samba is different and is from Brazil but that dance and rhythm is salsa, the artist's Celia Cruz from Cuba They confused it 😶

Yep, I'm from Brazil and I can guarantee we don't listen to cuban Celia Cruz on a daily basis neither consider the rythm any type of samba-like. Still a great performance though.

Sometimes on Strictly, I get chills watching a dance, but it's usually some time after Blackpool and never in week 1. But this one really got me. Man, this guy has some moves! And it's especially impressive that he's so big and yet so graceful. And to think we almost didn't get to see him at all, had it not been for Jamie's injury.

She's actually a lot quieter in Strictly than she is in our Let's Dance (the German version of Strictly). Maybe she was pretty nervous (which is very unlike her).

Oti Mabuse you’ve only gone and done it AGAIN! I was initially thinking that it’s cruel to give a samba week one but if any pro could do a fabulous samba it’s Oti. Kelvin has serious rhythm and potential - Shirley, Motsi and Tess all getting hot flushes and being lost for words was honestly the funniest thing I’ve seen on strictly 😂 ( besides the inevitable of Bruno falling off his chair each series). I was cheering throughout the whole performance!

I would love to see oti win. She's amazing. It's great that she got a partner who can dance. All the time they pair her with someone who is not able to come through. She's an amazing dancer and i would love to see a black person win this time around.

She got paired with Danny Mac and they did that insane samba which I still watch to this day, it was utterly incredible. They really ought to have won, but clearly the menopausal mafia were out for him because he had "dance experience". Oh, and Ore Oduba won that year and he's black, so...

leopold Ore winning had nothing to do with him being Black. That’s not an excuse to give whenever someone Black achieves something over someone white. I too thought Danny should have won. He and Oti were s brilliant pairing that year. But, the people hate when someone has dance experience. My money is totally on Kelvin this year. Even if it’s because I’m salivating over his butt and chest 🤗😉

And if you read my comment, you'd see that my rationale for Danny not winning was because people were complaining about his alleged dance experience, nothing to do with skin colour.

Maybe it's not authentic street Brazilian samba, but honestly that probably won't wash in professional ballroom competitions where they're looking for a more heightened representation. I'm afraid if you're wanting genuine "down & dirty" samba, you've come to the wrong place. LOL Check out Oti & Danny Mac's Samba & come back & tell me what you think of that.

I freaking loved this routine; their chemistry, their rhythm. EVERYTHING! But, what really killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 was the bug that attached Shirley at the end and Bruno squished with his paddle. I can't stop laughing...🤣🤣🤣

What a lovely lovely man, his family are very lucky. Besides that the whole thing is full of joy. He won it for me in week one. He really let go and didn't allow the judges praise to go to his head. You could see he was listening intently for constructive feedback but only Craig gave any. I never get tired of watching this . Wonder what he is doing now
