Episode 95
This time on THE IDENT REVIEW, we continue our journey through the history of BBC1 idents! Last time we visited we covered the black-and-white era of idents for the BBC's flagship channel. Well this time, we're moving into full colour! And taking a look at each main ident that represented BBC1 from 1969, all the way up until 1997!
The BBC Television Service originally launched in late 1936, before being pulled from the airwaves in 1939 due to the outbreak of World War II, and then making a triumphant return in 1946. Beginning from 1953, the BBC would begin to really devise one central on-screen identity for itself, an identity that would be adapted and expanded over the next few decades! Join me as we look at all of their idents from the introduction of colour, up until a major corporate rebrand just before the 21st Century!
