I'll never forget my neighbor was busted for having one of these things illegally. The cops looked so freaked out and out of their element trying to capture it as it was running free through our neighborhood. This was Richmond VA by the way. God knows how that dude got one of these giant Lizards. Still makes me shiver just thinking about.

What's most ominous to me about them is that they don't show typical signs of aggression. They always seem calm and composed, even when they're about to kill you.
@arthurmorgan2887
@arthurmorgan2887 2 жыл бұрын
Well, they're idle hunters, not competitive one. They bit their prey, lets it run if they escape, and slowly track their prey down while the said prey is slowly dying out of bloodloss and the rotting venom. By the time their prey died, they would arrive and eat the carcass. Life is calm for them because it's a sure ending, that's why they're composed. Unlike other predators like bears, tigers, lions, and others who had to hunt their food competitively to live another day and if that food escape, that means more energy has to be expended in search for a new prey.

I live in Indonesia, because I live on the outskirts of the city with a large population of lizards, so when we were little we used to catch monitor lizards for money, sometimes 1 adult monitor lizard costs around 30 thousand rupiah or about 2 US dollars. . . This animal is similar to the Komodo dragon but is small in size. The tail often whips a whip to defend itself.

As long as you keep a level of calmness and respect around any large animal that might eat you, it definitely limits the chances of you getting mauled. But these lizards have killed and eaten people, and likely will do again. The number is small, 24 reported attacks, 5 fatalities over nearly 50 years, but that's only due to their small, localised population.
