In this heartwarming and at times hard-hitting series, conservationist Giles Clark helps set up a bear rescue centre in South East Asia while rearing bear cubs of his own. Having previously raised endangered tigers and big cats in his family home, Giles travels to Laos in Asia, where sun and moon bears are under threat due to illegal bear bile farming. A pioneering wildlife rescue centre is being built, and Giles and his family move in next door to help. Alongside caring for a sun bear and two moon bear cubs at home, Giles rescues bears from all over the country, builds wild enclosures so liberated bears can live a natural life, and releases other rescued animals back to the wild. Will he manage to secure a free future for bears in Laos?

Its always about education. Often those that hurt them aren't educated enough to understand the hurt that they are causing. Many times they just are trying to make a living. At least for some Asianic people.

Ain't never is what is termed a double negative. Same as do not have "none". If I ain't (do not) got (past participle of "to get", have) NO apples, then How many do you have? A dozen apples? It's a double negative, grammatically speaking. I remember when my children - 5 - were very small like you. Sweetie... have mommy and daddy buy you The Gregg Reference Manual (SABIN) and the Worksheets, perhaps for your next birthday or Christmas, or Hooked on Phonics? HOP. They have 4 modules, even up to the Collegiate (college) level, and will help distinguish you as a well-spoken (a compound adjective preceding a noun) adult some day, ok? If you need more help, SCHOLASTIC is offering free on-line tutorials for all, especially children like you in Elementary School. Just ask Santa for them, ok? In the meantime, keep studying, ok? Agent E I’m inclined to think Grizzlies might be the scariest. I read somewhere that (American) Black bears that have been exposed to people stay as far away from them as they can, whereas Grizzlies that have been exposed to people become more aggressive toward them. And they’re honkin’ huge!

We can't wait to see the BBC TWO broadcast of #BearsAboutTheHouse in mid-July. Mary is one of almost 1,000 sun bears, moon bears & sloth bears that we've helped rescue. All 3 species are classified as Vulnerable to Extinction on the IUCN Red List. We care for hundreds of rescued bears at our sanctuaries. Many of the bears are injured or were taken as cubs after their mothers were killed by poachers,. Without suitable protected forest for release, we'll likely be looking after them for life. We are a non-profit charity started by Australian grandmother Mary Hutton, who this year was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to conservation & the environment. Until they're over 500 pounds, eat you out of your house and home, destroy anything. Perhaps just volunteer at a local animal shelter, go online and put $10 a month on your bank's auto-withdrawal for your fav Charity, foster kids, a local park or food bank, take a bag, put the gloves and mask on and clean up the City's streets, make masks for you and/or your loved ones? If we all do a little, we can collectively DO A LOT. Go to your local park and clean up trash? Volunteer at... anywhere... Be safe, from your eternal sister in Christ somewhere near Seattle and around the World.

I just don't understand why bears are so badly treated in Asia. Bear bile is not a cure for anything - it's just a cruel thing to do to such an intelligent species. Hell, it's cruel to any species. So glad that there are people with kind hearts and the right knowledge to rescue them. That sanctuary is beautiful. And I may not know much about sun bears, but I'm absolutely positive that she not only is very happy there, but she loves that gentleman. Those 'wicked' looks remind me of when my kids were little and they were up to something. Her expressions are as readable as a toddler's. She trusts him implicitly - or she wouldn't have tested his catching skills! I wish the team running the sanctuary all the luck in the world, and hope that in the countries where bears are being tortured like this, or for whatever reason are being orphaned, education will win the day. I've heard that the dog meat trade is being tackled by Chinese people (S Korea, it's your turn. I know you have rescue centres, but many, if not all rescued dogs are being sent to countries like the USA for rehoming. It's up to the people of the country to make the difference), and that is excellent news, but it needs to be a massive wave of support to stop this happening. And then do the same with 'traditional' medicines. They don't work, they only lead to the extinction of species for the equivalent of grinding your fingernails up and taking them as a powder. Rhino horn is exactly the same thing. Since when does biting your nails and eating them cure cancer?
