Welcome to the Grammar Gameshow! Test your knowledge in this crazy quiz! The presenter is a bit strange, the points don't make sense and the prizes could use some improvement, but at least the grammar is correct!
Well done, Mark! He has survived through to another round. But don’t relax just yet, here comes Selene, our newest contestant. Together, they will have to face the awesome might of 'so' and 'such'. Those two little intensifiers that allow us to modify adjectives and nouns! Will Mark or Selene win? Can you answer their questions? What’s that weird energy between them? Hi Mariella, Thank you for your comment. We are glad that this programme entertained you and hope that you will continue to watch our content. As to your question: 'You make me laugh such a lot. It was so funny' We are pleased to tell you that you are indeed correct - though your choice is a little unusual, it is not grammatically wrong for one of two reasons: 1. It could be a reduced form of 'You make me laugh such a lot (of laughter) - which no one would say due to the repetition, and the fact that it sounds a little odd. 2. Normally we would say "You make me laugh so much / a lot or very much". However, 'a lot' can be used as an adverb, e.g. I like to run a lot. Normally we would use 'so' to emphasise an adverb (He runs so quickly), but because 'a lot' starts with an 'a' - and 'such' emphasises nouns, which start with 'a' - 'so' is not possible in this case. Therefore we must use 'such' - You make me laugh such a lot Thank you for your question and comment. We hope this explanation was useful (if not too complicated!) and we hope you will continue to watch our programmes. Actually he said "ciao". It is a italian greeting that has entered the vocabulary of many languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) around the world, because of italian emmigrants.

Samuel is correct. Leslie says 'ciao'. Don't forget that all our programmes now come with subtitles, allowing you to clarify anything that may have been misheard. Thank you for your comment.

I've never seen Will so upset! You two! You've made his blood boil! Such a romantic scene before his eyes! He saw red !
