OpenAI has unveiled the latest version of the tech which underpins its AI chatbot ChatGPT.
It’s called GPT-4o, and it will be rolled out to all users of ChatGPT, including non-subscribers.
It is faster than earlier models and has been programmed to sound chatty and sometimes even flirtatious in its responses to prompts.
The new version can read and discuss images, translate languages, and identify emotions from visual expressions.

I have used those features for over a month a small portion of users were chosen to test and use new features and I must say how the word impressive does not apply as to known human language I believe there is no word that can express the beyond imaginable power; most impressive power. And I mean in a good way. My humble and amateur contribution to the GTP engine goes back a few years already and... This step, particularly the human-like audio chat feature is one that will leave speechless anyone who engages in a conversation, especially on subjects dear to them or that they are passionate about; by daring and go and address it not like a robot but like an intelligent being; a non-human intelligence. In front of it we are so, so little. I love GPT. 💛

Speaking from first hand experience, trying to fake charm when you have none is not a good idea. People can see through it, and really don't like it. Better to be blunt if that's your true nature. AI being charming is the same. It just feels shallow and creepy. It's a machine, it should act like one. Anyone who wants it to be a phony friend needs to have a word with themselves.

No wonder Apple is panicking - it has well and truly been left behind in the ai race, that's why they want to buy in Microsofts Copilot gpt capability.
