Inside the US lab freezing the dead at -196C - BBC REEL

Cryonics is an experimental area of research in which the bodies of the clinically dead are frozen at -196C so they can later be resuscitated by future medical advances.
People in the industry concede that there is no guarantee of future revival and the procedure itself has long faced scepticism from medical experts. But Cryonics devotees, including their many high-profile clients, are willing to take the gamble for a chance for life after death.

my thoughts exactly, they have already died before they were frozen. to bring them back them you would have to figure out how to defreeze the entire body safely, and then to reanimate an already dead person. maybe u can do the first one, but I can’t see how in the world are you supposed to do the second.

How tiny is that half of a percent chance it would work? I would guess technitians might need to overcome two mayor obstacles 1). if the person died it had a medical reason that would need to be corrected 2). reanimating a dead brain would be extremely complex; they will require intricate instruments,cloning technology and out of this world chemicals and medicine practically impossible.

Initial steps, that weren’t developed by doctors, and have no involvement with the field of legitimate medicine….because learned doctors and science figured out long ago that death is a permanent condition. These “initial steps” are just the elaborate embalming and refrigeration of a brain dead corpse, by people who aren’t even doctors. The solution they use to preserve the circulatory system and prevent ice crystals is highly toxic. No amount of medical advancements change that toxic substances are still toxic substances. That’s moot though, because death is irreversible.

The world will have lost all it's freedom for security and peace. The future is scary, but interesting. Not really. Like he said, it's sufficient to merely preserve the brain as, by the time any kind of technology develops that is able to revive these frozen bodies (if it is indeed at all possible), regenerative medicine will probably be at a point where they'll just be able to regrow a body for you using your DNA. So the rest of the body could still be donated.
@HansDunkelberg1
@HansDunkelberg1 2 жыл бұрын
@@neon-kitty Regrowing your body using your DNA would certainly have to raise difficult ethical questions. You can do it already - it's called cloning -, but cloning people is frowned upon, still, and it's also not clear how you'd justify to remove the head.
@neon-kitty
@neon-kitty 2 жыл бұрын
@@HansDunkelberg1 No, that's not the same thing at all. When you clone someone, you're creating a new person who would need to go through pregnancy, birth, childhood, etc. before you could even use their body the way you're suggesting and that would indeed be highly unethical but also highly impractical because of how long it'd take. I'm talking more along the lines of regenerative medicine. They're already working on being able to grow spare organs and the like in the lab so at some point in the distant future you'll possibly be able to regrow an entire adult body sans head or sans brain, too.

Accepting death is one the most difficult thing a human can do , having a conscious is what separate us from the rest of the animals, and at the end of our life there’s only two options you either get cremated or get buried, there is no third option , letting go of our love ones is a vey difficult thing to do But I guess some people are not ready for it .

@@chrissolo8863 Oh, that's anything but clear. Try to make a screenplay with such a procedure as a clearly recognizable scam, and you'll see that you won't obtain a movie. Making things into screenplays is a good method of testing their substance. You only could use that procedure for a movie as an element of doubtful reliability. You could have someone invest money in it when a breakthrough begins to appear as well thinkable. Then you could show a breakthrough, or you could show a failure, and get a usable screenplay out of such continuations. You could never use that sort of a procedure, say, as a proof that some figure in your movie involved in it must have a bad character. The procedure _is not_ a scam and can clearly be recognized as a serious effort.

It IS. It was a scam 50 years ago, when a company with the same name and business model, headquartered in San Franscisco, was found to be a fraud. The company had abandoned several containers with corpses inside, which had thawed and decomposed when the power bill was no longer being paid. I read the news story about this in 1972!
