Blue Ribbon looks like a great value with many solid features of the big name pits. Unfortunately they are just way too far and the shipping kills me making it unaffordable.

Chamber sizes near as I can figure: Workhorse 1969 19x41 3/8 steel, all others 1/4." Forsythe 1904 19×35, Blue Collar 20x36, Anchor 3620 dimensions in the name but I couldn't verify. Went ahead and looked up LSG Texas edition 24x40 $3,195.

Looking forward to the video on small offsets that are about the same size as the cheap ones you get at home depot but high quality. Something like that is going to be my next purchase.

Pits by JJ has several options in this category. A basic 20x36 begins at $1,950, with a basic 20x42 starting at $2,250. I know it's a 24" wide pipe, but the TMG Heritage, with it's 36" long cook chamber, to me, fits this mid-sized category - and it starts at $2,500. You can order it traditional flow or reverse flow. If I was going to buy in this category, it'd be the Heritage - comes with two pull-out cooking grates. 1 month ago, it might have been the Workhorse 1957.... though I don't like idea of not having a pull out a cooking grate.

I have a WH 1975 with the wagon wheel package. Bought it 2.5 years ago. Have long been amazed at how relatively low their prices were compared to some of the more “well known” national brands. I think they are finally priced more appropriately, however their value was always a main aspect of their selling point. How much does this change now that they are more expensive? Time will tell. Always enjoy your reviews.

Last month I took delivery of one of the last 1969 pits shipped before Workhorse went to a retail-only business model and raised the price significantly. I ordered my 1969 with cowboy firebox but not with a top rack. I believe this configuration is no longer an option. The 1969 used to be made with pipe just short of 3/8" thick but for about a year now has been made with fully 3/8" for chamber and firebox (stack, door, and other small weld-ons are not 3/8"). The new weight claim is legit, as indicated on my bill of lading. A 3/8" firebox will be much more durable than a (very durable) 1/4" firebox and helps create and maintain a coal bed much better. I think the "smart shelf" option is dumb and didn't get it. The 1969 ought to have a counterweight; the door is very heavy. I'm glad the 1969 doesn't have tuning plates. One of the reasons I left pellet cookers behind was the difficulty keeping them clean and free of grease fire risk. Tuning plates make offsets just as hard to clean, and reintroduce the radiant heat problem that plagues pellet cookers. Offsets should stay simple for best cooking results and ease of cleaning.

Maybe add the LSG 20" offset?
