Mainstream NBC viewers are far too intolerant, uncultured, and even boorish to ever have given this show a chance. One of the best dramas ever.

Airing this show was one of the gutsiest things the network has done in years. I recall seeing one of the episodes with the "angels" and thinking "This is on network primetime?! Who drugged the censors?!" Not to imply denouncement, though; Hannibal is still quite possibly my favorite show ever aired. It is beautiful, both in story and cinematography.

Hannibal never lied -- he told the truth, told people he eats people, made comments about him being a killer, but people took it as a quirk instead of anything else.

So he's not *really* lying, just taking what one person is saying and making it into a metaphor for what animal he considered the person he cooked to be.

An old theory I remember reading was that he was crying because he truly didn't want to frame Will and was genuinely worried/scared Will was never going to trust him again because of it and that he was going to lose the only interesting person he'd ever met. I think people we're just going off of the fact that Hannibal wouldn't really need to fake cry in front of Bedelia (cause she low-key knows) so the tears were real and people we're just trying to figure out why he was crying haha.

Yesss, i rewatched the show in portuguese and it was not the same. Most of brazilian dubs are awesome and i think they chose a great voice actor for hannibal, who expresses a lot more, but nobody can top the original performance mads gave

This is why I generally prefer subtitles to dubbing. The actors' line delivery and tone does so much for a preformance.

It’s a testament to how much Hannibal likes Will that he didn’t kill him for that and continued to like him.

I honestly doubt someone like Hannibal would care. He only cared when buddy took credit for his murders.

He technically intended to be the copy cat to test will, if he could read through it and see the diffrent pathology behind every murder design and therefore recognize that it's not the same killer. In this video itself he often smiles at the analysis process that will takes to conduct that this was the work of a copy cat rather than the ripper. He found joy in it when will recognized him and his artwork. Did you not see that will subconsciously knew all along it was hannibal and that made hannibal happy however he did intervene and caused him those seizures that disturbed the conscious link between hannibal and the murders. Once he was freed from those seizures did he not immediately realize that it was hannibal all along. Which was the goal all along, a test of worthiness, that hannibal undertook as he sees himself as a higher being from other people and that him himself was intrigued by will and thus decided to test him and eventually started obsessing over him as he was able to map through hannibal's way of seeing things which is not only uncommon but it is exactly what made hannibal think of himself as a higher being.
