BC8 MAMMOTH Build Part 6 Cross RC - She is Finished!!!!!!!

Well the Cross RC BC8 Mammoth is now complete!!! To say that I am happy is somewhat of an understatement. She has had her first proper run which was amazing. The video will be on the channel soon. Thank you for following this build video of my dream truck. I hope you have enjoyed it!!! Thanks for watching.

So beautiful 8-) what a beast of a build. I so want this build but one big one per year. so Maybe at the end of this year I'll get this unit. I've seen a unit like this for sale almost complete for $1400.. it was very tempting as it was same color as yours.

Hey buddy, did you get the built one in the end? Seems to me you are losing so much of the fun being doing that however if there's a significant cost saving then I can see the advantage. Esp if you strip it anyway.

I do not know how you have found the vehicle coulour but back in Soviet times that blue was very used in houses possible because the paint factories produced only few coulours and that was one of those. Very authentic! We call it ”Russian Blue” in Finland. And it is not always positive remark. Good choise. Magnificent vehicle all in all.👍👏

It does look epic in blue and the finish is nice.. I thought you might of done the white chevrons on the front bumper. Your electrics are how mine are in the MC8 but easy to work on using the large space I now have. The sound unit I got to work well but I did change the speaker to a spare Cross one I had and it was a little louder. Like you not had it out for a run but might do it as the regs are a little lifted now.

Cheers Mal. One thing that messes with my head is getting it all tidy. Then having to undo it all to take the cab off. I lose patience lol. This is actually as loud as Andrew's revolver motor 🤪 yes mate. Get out in the fresh air and get her rolling. Your colour scheme and box look amazing 👍

@@antrc Yes the Cross are loud but it's not so much the motors but the gears. You should hear the Ural sounds like it's being strangled. Andrews motor noise is like a Banshee under the bonnet i'm not a fan of them. But you should be proud of this build as you skills are improving all the time. I wonder what you will challenge yourself with the next big build.

Man that thing came out amazing. The back box makes it look smaller than it actually is. I’m nervous for you regarding the weathering as the truck looks killer the way it is. Looking forward to seeing the run video

Cheers Sean. Comments much appreciated. I am very nervous too. Hence why weathering may well be some time away. I am just pumped with adrenaline wanting to run it again. I have spent the best part of a year watching mammoth videos, daily wanting one. It is epic. It should give us plenty of cool videos. The run video will be going live on Saturday 👍👍👍

Hi Yves, glad you like the video. Sorry for the late response. I tend to try and get any 5 inch action figures from ebay and the cheapest ones. They can be quite expensive so 5 inches seem to fit with a bit of leg surgery!!!! Hope that helps.

So Jelly! Ugh I want one so bad! Fully independent double wishbone suspension with the torsion bars all up front is sex! Those dash lights too!! Well done mate, she really is a beauty! I still hate the stock gearbox tho, they really could have done much better after all the effort that must have gone into... Meh! Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy.. Looking forward to the run vids so we can all see her shine in the sun :)

What kind of servos did you use for the steering?

It's a shame you didn't at least demo the sound card for it, I found out about this rig in an RC video from "RC Machines" channel, and i always loved the old russian trucks, and finding Cross RC has opened a new door to my addiction, lol. but the specific video, i will try to link it here, has a very unique turbo noise. and i want to find out if that's the stock sound card, yet of the few videos of this truck, no one but RC Machines has this sound, because all the other videos overlay music, or don't run the RPM's up to trigger the turbo noise. i know this video is a year old now, but i am just discovering this beast along with the other Cross RC vehicles. I hope maybe you, or someone here could give me a little insight, i for sure want that sound for mine (when i get one) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eaeIeK6KxM6naJ8.html this is the video, time-stamped. Yes i know its just a sound card, it doesn't need a sound card... but man, its going to be a big selling point for me, lol. Still though, i really appreciate you taking the time to make videos of the build, and sharing any tips or thoughts you had along with it. it really helped me understand the scope of what would be involved in building one. definitely earned a sub here.

Hey thanks for the comments. Re the sound card, I used one on my MC6 and to be honest, I thought it was a little quiet, plus adding the cross electronics into the mix, they are ok but do not like water and I do so the truck often gets wet and goes through deep water. Personally I would look at a different sound option for it as there are plenty out there and I reckon they will all be louder than the cross ones. This hobby and these trucks are addictive for sure. @@antrc yeah i understand it ws a little quiet for you and the water part makes sense. Though i am more trying to figure out if its the same sound card in the vid i posted or if that one is a custom. I really love that heavy equipment turbo diesel sound it had in the video, but it sounds pretty loud in any of that channels videos, so im imagining its a custom/aftermarket sound card. Just trying to see if i can find *that* particular sound.
