Hey Eric look into getting a dirt jumper and spend 2 weeks on a pump track. You'll connect the last dot for dirt jumping, leveraging the bike off of the lip. When you "pump" on a pump track, you are pulling up on the bars, with your feet/pedals as a pivot point, and exerting downward force on the rear wheel - using that leverage to gain speed on a downslope. If you apply the same force when coming off of the lip (after preload, in conjunction with the "unweight" motion) you'll gain just a bit more air time by flinging yourself upward, using that leverage we just talked about. It sounds difficult but if you practice on a pump track consistently it will come to you fast. Good luck!

This was awesome Eric..! Major improvement from two years ago. That jump you didn't get has some things working against you. The dry conditions, the erosion over the last two years, and lack of trail maintenance. Sure you could use some help with your "boost" off jumps. But dude you did awesome. Can't wait for more adventures...keep up the hard work.!

On park lines I usually have to increase my compression, increase psi in my tires to clear jumps lines. If not I loose too much speed in the corners and going up the lips.
@dreiback182
@dreiback182 4 жыл бұрын
One advice: Turn your bars a bit(20-40° something in between) this way you wont land nose heavy so easy and jumps feel better and everything is better and you have more controll. At least I experienced it that way.

@forrestrycommitee3808

Remember to turn them back before you land lol. The reason( i think) it makes jumps easy is it means you aren't static in the air so 1 you have something to focus on and 2 you undo and correct little inaccuracies in your jump like being nose heavy.

I live in Utah where it’s always dry and we have a trail just like that one called levitate and I’m a 16 year old kid that can do it flawlessly I think levitate is probably a bit harder in my opinion there are drops hips shark fins and a bunch of table tops my advice is take a few pedal strokes if you need it before a jump

I don’t know if you are already doing this, but pumping the lip and compressing your suspension and then releasing the pump right at the top of the lip can help you get way higher and further on jumps.

You don't pe-load your suspension. You're just riding off the jump, hoping you have speed. Get some trampoline time on your bike, and get used to bouncing off jumps instead of casually riding over them. :) My two cents. :P

Did you think about adjusting your suspension at all? Usually for bigger jumps like this you want to bump up the compress and rebound, kind of opposite of what you'd want for technical trails. I'd almost want to get it as close to a hard tail as I can so that the suspension isn't soaking up any of the boosting you're trying to do.
@JessHines
@JessHines 4 жыл бұрын
Not that I'm a jump king, and this is an arm chair comment, but the jump at 10:00 looks like you're not pumping into the transition, but just yanking up on the takeoff. A smooth lean-and-pull as the front tire clears the lip, accompanied by tucking in the back at about the halfway point in the air should get you over. Also, Blake has some good jumping videos over on GMBN.

Great video! However you definitely need to work on your bunny hop technique to learn to jump properly and you'll find it so much easier, you're pulling up with your feet way too much and you need to preload the take off. Also your bike spend some time setting up your bike, it's very unbalanced at the moment and your constantly going nose heavy, there's so many things that could affect this, try slowing down your rear rebound or speeding your front up, or adding a click or too of compression damping in the front, will make a big difference.
