A young Iraqi officer who played a dangerous role in the history of his country
I, # Muhammad_Rumaihi, accompany you through Eco Arab on a tour of #Modern_Iraq_History
Despite his strength and might, he died in fear of dreams and nightmares
...
Abdul Sattar Al-Abusi was born in Baghdad in 1930 during the monarchy of Iraq
The boy hated the royal family because of the death of his older brother during military service
And his hatred increased after his middle brother died of a mysterious crime while studying in America
At that time, the demonstrators tried to intercept the procession of Prince Abdul-Ilah, the regent of the throne, but the royal guard confronted him
Al-Abusi opposed the monarchy early and held a demonstration at the age of 17
In 1958 a group of Iraqi officers carried out a military coup
After completing high school, he joined the military college and graduated from it to work as a shooting instructor in the Washash camp
The young King Faisal, aged 23, came out with all of his family members, including women, children, and servants
Al-Abusi heard the news of the coup and went with a group of his students to the royal palace
They fired shells at the palace and demanded that the besieged surrender and leave the square
So the king, his uncle, his grandmother, and some family members died in the event
The king's grandmother accompanied them, who carried the Qur’an over his head and cried
As they walked through the palace garden, heading to the exit door, under the muzzle of guns
Abdul Sattar broke his promise, grabbed his machine gun, and opened fire on them
Contrary to what Abd al-Sattar expected ... the army commanders did not punish him, but rather he was honored and promoted
After the massacre ended, Abd al-Sattar realized the gravity of his action and feared the army’s punishment for him
He decided to open the doors of the palace to the people gathered outside to affix the murder charge to the masses
Indeed, the crowds entered the palace and the corpses contested and paraded them in the streets of Baghdad
In the early seventies, his condition worsened even more due to the nightmares in which he saw his victims
However, he never enjoyed the rest, as reported by those close to him
Nightmares prevented him from sleeping, and he used to see the late king in his dreams
The Iraqi officer underwent psychological treatment for a long time, but to no avail
He shot himself and died by suicide while still in his early forties
