Let’s not ignore the fact that Kid essentially organized a nation wide coup d’état, succeeded, and was set up to be its king had he not left. Him uniting the gangs feels vaguely Whitebeard/Oden/Doflamingo/Kaido-ish and he could have been a tyrannical King rather than a Pirate. 10/10 backstory for the ship and crew imo.

As a HUGE Kidd fanboy, I loved that we have more information since him and Killer are my favorite characters in One Piece. I like his backstory and im confident we'll see it in the manga. As a member of the OP community and a Kid fan, its just another day in the trenches and ive stopped trying to reason with people. I appreciate the neutrality, but until a OP influencer actively helps change the narrative (or Kid one shots Shanks with Damned Punk, and even then they'd either downplay Shanks or say Oda fell off), the community wont accept him.

Obviously the backstory does huge things for kid, and quite frankly i love the story itself, but also i find the fact that killer specifically was a separate gang leader fascinating. Kidd and killer were best friends as kids, grew up to become separate and assumedly opposing gang leaders, and yet still came back together to be pirates portrays killer as an almost equal to kidd and further shows the strength of their connection

I would not be surprised if we get a deeper backstory this arc. The science/inventor theme plus the emphasis on "Punk" with Kid really makes me think Kid is connected to Vegapunk in some way.

I think it's good. It would be nice if we got to see this in the physical story but it being in an SBS doesn't mean that it won't be appearing in the future. It'll just feel weird seeing everything play out even though we've already seen it play out (but tbf Oda can always go into more detail in a volume).

To be honest I don’t mind that the backstory was revealed this way. Imo Kid is a character that would benefit a lot more from in situ characterization and growth rather than a backstory. He’s much more of a Bege or a Crocodile style character rather than a Law or a Doflamingo. But yeah, sadly he’s probably never gonna live up to Law simply because Law is just too popular already… like, even after all the focus Law has had throughout Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, and Wano, Oda still prefers to bring him back into the story instead of giving Kid some love. Sad to see because now we are in a situation where neither of them was or is a fitting rival to Luffy… Law doesn’t have the personality and the drive, and Kid doesn’t have the focus or characterization to be compelling.

I still think Kidd will be an main antagonist of an arc. Hopefully Oda is just getting this out of the way to have in go into more detail about Kidd later on.

If Kid's backstory were relevant or related to some future events, then yes, it would make sense to showcase it in some chapters. If it's not relevant nor related, then, getting revealed through SBS is fine. SBS are like off-screen canon informations. So, it depends on how the story turns out...

I like how Law call him Eustass-ya. Eustass is a name I like because of Courage the Cowardly Dog. I like Captain Kidd, but I prefer to refer to him as Eustass. Eustass’s design is cool. I didn’t realize he was wearing lipstick, I just always thought he had strange lips. But his “punk” theme makes that make sense. Along with his eye shadow. Animators have to do strange things to their characters to make them stand out. The aesthetic is super cool with Eustass. It’s pleasing to the eye and he still looks strong. I’m not upset that his backstory isn’t being shown in the anime, though. I’ve had enough flashbacks honestly.. they’re always SO SAD. It can alter my mood in a bad way sometimes, although I acknowledge it is one of the things that makes this show so good and why the payoffs hold so much weight.

Law and Kidd's stories should be given to good directors and animated as filler episodes

This literally shows Oda has more to show us about Kid, he didn't name the island, and he names a bunch of islands just to name them as he loves to create his world, he has hinted to Shanks and Kid having a past, he also stated Kid was the only supernova he had planned, Oda then focused on his DF in his fight with Big Mom, with him being focused on, Oda also constantly hints he has strong haki but didnt show it off while he also was the only supernova to fight a Yonko directly and successfully escape, with that being Shanks which these to have many parallels but Shanks is also be illustrated as the "Haki Master", the perfect character for Kid to fight for Oda to show off Kid's haki and possibly evolve it into a different form similar or counter to Shanks, making him a true and direct rival to Luffy Which also raises the question why they've also avoided putting Kid and Shanks in the same movie including Film Red, a music festival with the Kid pirates not only being designed after hippies but also are very music themed but they weren't at the concert? I think Oda plans to have these 2 clash and it will be a critical moment in the story, I don't think Kid will KILL Shanks but will win the right and someone will swoop in for the kill Sorry, ranting, but no way Oda is don't with Kid and am more hopeful now to see the rest if his crew in action
