The opening is the musical piece they used when the B-29, with the X-1 strapped underneath, was taxiing out to take off for the historic flight. I know in real life this was not Chuck Yeager’s first flight with the X-1 like the movie portrayed, but it’s still one of my favorite scenes in the movie.
