Both shifters sound to be in the same level in the video. I have the sound level on both shifters at the same setting in edit, but my camera is cutting out on the Pro-Sim. Irl the Pro-Sim is a lot louder.

@@annntonio8370 Hard to say, I have never used a real dogbox H shifter like the ones Quaife is making for real cars. But the BDH feels more like my own irl car.

After some time with the BDH shifter, I think it is brilliant. The team at BDH are brilliant also. Very supportive. If you are a reader /watcher and haven't tried this shifter, really try to have a go of it. Its a special piece of equipment.

Nice comparisons. The fact that the pro Sim is so loud is a concern for me as well as I do most of my driving a night. I also like the BDH reverse, looks, size and described gate feel better. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for watching and comment buddy! Yeah I'm not sure if it's possible to shift the Pro-Sim quiet, maybe if you turn it down to like 1 - 2 kilos and do slow shifts, but what is the fun in that.. XD Really loving the BDH, and constantly trying to figure out left hand side H shifter cars to drive. :)

Fantastic and genuinely a very helpful comparison video, MR-VR Closet. And I think if I ever won some money in Tattslotto somehow (given I don't play it ; ). I think that the BDH Shifter has finally now replaced the AIOLOGS Shifter as my own sim-racing shifter of choice... even if just for the choice of multiple gears like in my real car, verses just the sequential changes of the Aiologs???. Thanks for the great overview, and VERY MUCH LIKED!!! [:]-)

In my opinion not really a hard decision. Race cars have dogbox gearboxes and as far as i know only the pro-sim shifter can simulate this style of race car gearboxes with its shift lock box mentioned at the end of this review.

Nice video! 2021 great year for folks getting into sim with all these options now. So in the BDH does shift knob threading, is it the traditional M8-M12aftermarket shift knobs?

One thing I am a bit concerned about is I tend to be a bit rough on my H-pattern especially on the 1st and 2nd gear...can you do a resistance test pulling sideways from the 1st/second gate transitioning to the reverse section?

You mean you are afraid of accidentally putting it in reverse? I won't be able to see the scale, but will see if I can do some testing for you. You could also mount it the other way, with reverse to the right beside 5th and 6th.

Thanks for the comparison! Would you say the BDH is worth it over a frex + synchro mod? I like a lot the idea of locked gears without the clutch, but does the BDH experience trump that?

I really like the Frex, my to go to shifter for prototypes and classic formula cars. But I no longer use the sim synchro, if you put any pressure on the shifter before you engage the clutch, the clutch get's locked out.. So there are a risk you might damage something on your clutch.

Let me guess you have a bmw? Also how does the lockout on the prosim work? I guess it is detecting the clutch input, does it let you change gears if you mis shift?

Saab.🙃 It should be working with a software, and yes, be able to lock the gears when clutch is not used. But I'm actually not sure if they ever release it.

I'm trying to decide between the Frex and the BDH, would you say that they could both be used for training driving a manual in real life or does only the BDH feel like a real gear shifter? I know they're very different price brackets but I can afford either one, I'm mainly concerned about realism (but if the Frex also feels realistic enough for training then I'll go with that option). EDIT: Sorry I just realized you already replied to another comment asking basically the same thing

No worries. :) For a normal road car feel I would go for the BDH. Frex falls more in the classic formula and prototype car category. But as I said on the other comment, BDH is a small team, and I actually think they don't take any new orders at the moment do to high demands..

The tension make a big difference, but still a clunky shifter. I would say the frex is one of the shifters that are easiest to shift quiet with, one of few I'm able to use when my wife is sleeping.

How would you rate this the Frex HShift? The BDH is almost double the price of the Frex for me so I just want to know if there are any major differences in feel to warrant the extra cost.

They feel very different. The BDH have a distinct tactile feel inbetween the gates. The Frex have a more constant resistance between the gates. I love them both, one thing to have in mind is that BDH is a really small two man operation, and I think the waiting time is pretty long at the moment, like +6 months if not more.

@@RVRCloset Yes they do. However their QC and customer services are terrible. Mine was stuck because of the defective milling. I would avoid this company in the future. Own the Simvertex V2, got it repaired/modified by myself. Still waiting for my BDH to come. Thank you so much for the comparison. What's the reason that you sold the Pro-Sim btw?

@@INKWALK Thank you so much for the input!👍 I was almost never able to use it since my wife started working night, it was too loud to use when she is sleeping.. The BDH have taken it's spot on the rig though so no harm done.😁👌 Looking forward hearing your thoughts on the BDH!

@@RVRCloset Thanks for the prompt reply. A British company called Base Performance Simulators had just became the exclusive supplier of the BDH. I think BDH itself no longer build/ship the shifter. Not sure how things will change. That was why I came up checking your review again to see if I would like to buy a pro-sim instead ( endless waiting as well ).

Jag kan fortfarande inte välja. BDH hade varit solklart om det inte var för alla ändringar man kan göra på Quaife, som throw, sen hur neutral känns osv. Men framför allt throw, BDH ser ut att ha väldigt lite throw, vill inte att det känns för kort. :(

Jo BDH har lite kortare throw i originalutförande, går ju dock öka på om du förlänger spaken, dock har du lite lägre maxmotstånd på BDH mot Quaifen. Själv är jag van vid en ganska mjuk och lätt växelspak i min Saab, så brukar sätta mina växelspakar i riggen till 3-4 kilos motstånd.

Var ett bra tag sedan, och sålde den till en från USA, men har för mig omräkningen till sek landade på runt 13 tusen.
