Well done thank you oom ,I completely agree with your video ,I myself am a trainer ,my father is also a trainer ,I've had my own business going on about 5 years now ,only after I've taught myself about the breeds ,worked with the breeds ,and familiarized myself , I got myself a beautiful European bloodline Mali ,so far going on a year and a half ,and he's amazing, I train and work him every day and he's very happy 😊, recently got him a sister beautiful Dutch shepherd

Thank you for saying what needs to be said. Absolutely 50% the fault of the breeder and 50% the buyer. A reputable breeder would also do their homework before selling a pup to just anyone. Unfortunately it has become all about money. My heart breaks for all the Mali's and Dutch shepherds in shelters 😢

Great video, thanks! I have a malinois but not a high drive puppy. She is calm and goes to work with me daily. She is a rescue and the trainer is working on her confidence. We also have a German Shepherd with a strong will. We are training both with Africa K9 training programme in Centurion. Denzil, the trainer is fantastic!

That is good info for the people. Its so easy to get one. They think they can leave them at home and take them for walks once a month😳 My Dutchy goes with me everywhere. He sleeps at the foot of my bed. My sons Mali sleeps at the foot of his bed, follows him around, jumps on the trampoline, follows his order, sits Stay Platz etc my sons 5. I almost feel bad calling them dogs cause infact they are beings.

GREAT VIDEO!! 100% F***ng truth!! We had to wait for a long time before we had the possibility to buy our dutchie..first off all - there was no litters born in norway for 4years + we had other dogs and wanted to give the new pp our full attention. . We had to go trough several interwievs and show credentials to be even considered to get a puppy from the breeder.. I am a ADTB certf. instructor and also a certf. behaviorist AND worked as a doghandler for 3,5 years ( in the early 90ths ) but still i had to get trough interw. etc.and they STILl were not sure if they wanted to sell to us since shw would be used as a allround dog. They still need A LOT of work because of their drive. I actually see the Dutchie being very difficult to train. They are strong but need to be handeled with care. Very polarized. .But i LOVE my Dutchie

Listening once again. There's so much wisdom & experience here. The breeder said they "don't train other people's dogs." The first day I got my GSD/Dutchie mix, I started potty training and "sit." The poor little guy was out of control at 9+ weeks, and he's brilliant. I am thankful for past experience with large breeds (already trained) and my behavioral psych background. That in itself, however, would never be enough. Yes, the breeder talked about his Dutch Shepherd mama's champion bloodline. I'm glad I finally found a specialized trainer who can teach me how to move to the next level. Thank you both for the work you do to save dog's lives and contribute to the body of knowledge.

I have the best of 3 I bought a belgium cross dutch cross German Shepard she is now 4 months old and I did my home work before I bought her I am working with her father's owner and we train 3 time a week and because I have done my home work I feel she and I will work well together she had a very high drive but is also very loving and part of our family, thank u for the advice I love watching your videos

I wish I'd seen this video before getting my puppy. I've had him about 3 weeks, got him from a breeder.'wanna be" and am doing my best to learn myself and train him, but need help. These typical puppy training companies don't offer sufficient skill. He is 1/2 Dutch Shepherd and 1/2 GSD. I've had a trained GSD in the distant past, but never a strong Dutchie, and this is an intelligent, unique blend. Are you located in the US?

You have to find a trainer that knows your breed, understands what you want to achieve and that you get along with.

@@ourprotectiondogs Thank you so much for responding. Yes, I am indeed seeking exactly that, and in the interim, am reading everything I can get my hands on and hired a regular trainer the vet recommended.I want a specialist.

@@ourprotectiondogs Whew - The puppy trainer (recommended by my vet) made a referral to a trainer who specializes in these 3 bteeds. I kept asking and he simultaneously realized he was in over his head. My intuition told me right away that this sweet initial trainer couldn't produce what I desired. It's not his fault. I'd recommed average puppy owners to him any day. I'm just so grateful for the excellent referral. ❤ I love your videos and wish I could meet you both.
