Mala Sinha was a great actor. But I have seen Mala Sinha and Sanjeev Kumar in two movies, Zindagi and this one. Even though I don't like making comparisons, Sanjeev Kumar was one of the greatest actors of all time. He was awesome in Zindagi, as was Mala Sinha.

It’s a film which I liked most, because it’s about struggle between your deeds (कर्म) & your faith (नियति). I always feel close to those characters who are having to struggle throughout their lives against their faith, but they fight with situations alone with their never say die attitude & using their karmas as weapons & means to fight. Some portions for which I am fond of this film: 1. "37:13" to "40:09" where a Police Commissioner (Sanjeev Kumar) sustains an importance of "IMAGE" to his junior Sub Inspector (Shatrughn Sinha). Actually this shows detail mentality of a person who may have failed in his personal life, but tries to recover from it, with help of good & aggressive Karma's. Although I still feel that in the above argument, Police Sub Inspector (Shatrughn Sinha) is correct, because we can't carry burden of our social, economical, professional status / image throughout our life. We are humans first & then something else, but anyways it is my personal opinion & you may be agreeing or disagreeing with it. 2. "50:39" to "53:03" where Police Commissioner bursts out his anger, frustration, helplessness, his modesty & acceptance towards situations, in front of his love, still being so strong character in his professional life, was something which touches down your heart. Sanjeev Kumar's performance was outstanding in this portion. 3. "1:17:58" to "1:20:58" where again Police Commissioner explains why he had chosen to be a strict police officer & why he gave so much importance to rules & regulations than relations. At the same time, he is feeling helpless in front of his own destiny which makes him dance like a puppet, making him more frustrated and angry. The Highlight point of this portion is one sentence "आज मेरी इज्जत का मोह मुझे इस मुकाम पर ले आया हैं के मेरी आत्मा मुझे धीक्कार रही हैं...!” This one sentence illustrates whole movie, where a human knows, that he is just a puppet or slave in front of his / her own faith & false identity. Hats off writer, director & off course to great Sanjeev Kumar for portraying such character (which is inside everybody of us) so convincingly… 4. “1:25:48” to “1:27:22” where Maya (Mala Sinha) decides to quit her life to save her love. I feel this is her way to say sorry to her love (Sanjeev Kumar) that “I ‘am sorry, couldn’t justify myself in front of you & we may be helpless in hands of destiny of this dimension of world, but will surely meet again in some other better world, where no such karma boundaries & other wright / wrong rules & not even destiny can stop us being together forever…”. A heart breaking & intense background music puts this scene to some other level, where you cannot stop crying & I feel you should not (stop yourself crying) … if you consider yourself a human. Mala Sinha’s performance in above portion is natural & substantial... 5. “1:30:13” to “1:33:49” where Police Commissioner sees his love, dead, unexpectedly… & still so helpless that he couldn’t even cry for her. When he asks a question “ये कैसे हूआ?”, his voice gets full with emotions, trying to gain some voice out of his throat but it’s all shaking… with cry, anger & helplessness inside all over him. Further when he willingly but secretly attends funeral of his love, sums up things & leaves so many questions starting with WHY... WHY we are so much attached to our external image that we cannot express our true feelings? WHY we have to suffer for so many things which are not in our hands or we are not directly responsible for it? WHY we are slaves of our own destiny? He cannot cry even when he was alone & seeing his love being cremated. His eyes were full of emotions, crying to cry, but not a single drop comes out, leaving his eyes full of red color sorrow. The song’s words tell you exactly the same… “कीस्मत बीना कोई कीसीको पा नहीं सके ! और प्यार को सीने सी भी लगा नहीं सके !! मीलने से ही पेहेले यहा दिल टूट जाते है ! सफर के पेहेले हमसफर भी छूट जाते है !! तकदीर तुझपे हसेगी, तु रो ना पायेगा ! पेशानी पे जो लिखा है, वोह पेश आयेगा !! तकदीर के कलम से कोई बच ना पायेगा ! पेशानी पे जो लिखा है, वोह पेश आयेगा !!" Sanjeev Kumar’s performance is 100 times better in this portion then some of all-time great actors. Last but not least, being a fighter, this character choses what is a best way to end his life, sacrificing it on his duty, even though where having a choice to save it. But this is the difference between a fighter & a normal human being… That’s why I admire / love Karna, Jalandhar, Bali, Indrajeet, Kumbhakarna & many more such characters who may be at wrong side, but always fights for their own set of rules & accepts meaningful death. And off course we are not perceivable enough to understand whether they are indeed wright or wrong… These are my own true feelings & modest opinions which I have shared… not meant for hurting or disbelieving anyone’s belief... if anyways it happens I am apologetic for that…

Film thin this. Story sadharan this. Na suspense na thrilling. Heroin susied karti hain bad me film me kuchh nahi bachta. Film wahi khatm hui thi . lambai badhane ke liye smuggling ,fir fieting, golibari Jo hamesha ki tarah bewajah. Film ki disha hi bhatak gayi. Sanjeev Kumar ki acting lajwab. Mala sinha ka" hasino ki duniya " song aur dance Mast. Lyrics aur music bahut badhiya. Rafi Saab ka gana taqdir me kalam she koi Bach na song bahut badhiya .kesto Saab ki bewade ki acting bahut badhiya. Chhote sa role manmohan ji ka bahut Mast.

A very good movie with situational problems faced by the actors which makes it so difficult for them to come out of it. Sanjeev kumar and Malaji had a very challenging role to play where they prooved their class. Shatruji and others also performed well.
